<br />above the minimum must be justified in writing by <br /> <br />the hiring Director, a starting salary above 5% <br /> <br />over the minimum requires approval of the City <br /> <br />Manager or Assistant City Manager. <br /> <br />Following <br /> <br />successful completion of a six (6) month <br /> <br />probationary period, a new employee shall receive <br />a 6% increase in pay. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />Merit Increases - Each budget year the City <br />Coùncil will consider approval of a salary <br /> <br />increase budget for the fiscal year. <br /> <br />The funds <br /> <br />appropriated will be utilized for performance <br /> <br />based increases according to an established <br /> <br />salary increase matrix. <br /> <br />Performance appraisals <br /> <br />will be conducted twice a year and salary <br />adjustment amounts will be determined ~y the <br /> <br />employee's level of performance. <br /> <br />Performance <br /> <br />appraisals will þe performed at the completion of <br />the six (6) month probationary period and then <br /> <br />again every six (6) months, so that each employee <br />will have a performance review twice each fiscal <br /> <br />year. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Promotional Increase - A promotional increase of <br /> <br />up to 10% of the employee's salary, or an amount <br />sufficient to reach the minimum salary for the <br /> <br />new job, whichever is greater, will be granted to <br /> <br />-25- <br />
