<br />a promoted employee. <br /> <br />The promoted employee's <br /> <br />evaluation date shall be changed to the effective <br /> <br />date of the promotion. <br /> <br />Promotions are subject to <br /> <br />a six (6) months probation period. <br /> <br />During this <br /> <br />period, the employee's performance in the new <br />position will be reviewed and evaluated. The <br /> <br />employee's supervisor will complete a written <br />performance appraisal at the end of the <br /> <br />probationary period. <br /> <br />The result of the <br /> <br />performance appraisal will determine whether or <br />not the promotion becomes permanent and the <br /> <br />empl~yee receives a 6% increase. <br /> <br />All promotions <br /> <br />and promotional increases shall be coordinated <br /> <br />with the Director of Personnel and approved by <br />the City Manager or Assistant City Manager. <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />Reclassification - If an employee's job is <br />reclassified to a higher pay grade, and the job <br /> <br />is essentially the same, the employee will not be <br />required to serve another probationary period and <br /> <br />the anniversary date for the next merit increase <br /> <br />shall remain unchanged. <br /> <br />An employee shall <br /> <br />normally be compensated at the minimum step of <br />the new range, unless that pay rate is less than <br /> <br />the employee's current salary, in which case the <br />employee's rate of pay will remain the same. <br /> <br />-26- <br />
