<br />E. <br /> <br />EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />General Policy - City employees are encouraged to <br />attend educational conferences, self-improvement, and <br /> <br />job improvement courses which are related to their <br /> <br />work. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Required Traininq or Certifications - Before Hire - <br /> <br />If, as a condition of employment, an employee is <br />required to obtain training or certification, the <br /> <br />City may not pay the employee's tuition or overtime <br /> <br />pay. <br /> <br />The employee may be asked to sign an agreement <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />stating that he/she will take the required course(s). <br />Reauired Training - After Hire - If the City requires <br /> <br />that an employee obtain training, attend seminars, <br /> <br />etc., after being hired, the City will provide <br />tuition for such training and pay either overtime pay <br /> <br />or allow compensatory time off, if the training is <br />after hours. <br /> <br />-38- <br />
