<br />ten (10) hours per month), with accrual allowed to <br /> <br />continue without limit. <br /> <br />Accrual of sick leave is <br /> <br />based on hours paid. <br /> <br />Regular part-time employees <br /> <br />accrue sick leave in proportion to hours worked. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Use of sick Leave - Sick leave may be taken in hourly <br /> <br />increments, however, sick leave must be accrued <br /> <br />before it is used. <br /> <br />The following rules govern the <br /> <br />use of sick leave: <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />sick leave will accumulate and may be used during <br />the probationary period, however, sick leave may <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />not be used in advance of its being earned. <br />Employees may use sick leave for illness of a <br /> <br />dependent family member. (Dependent family member <br /> <br />is defined as husband, wife, son, daughter, <br /> <br />mother, father or other member of kinship who is <br />dependent upon and/or resides with the employee.) <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Sick leave may be used, if approved by the city <br />Manager or the Assistant City Manager, as <br /> <br />additional Bereavement Leave (See Section VIII-M <br /> <br />BEREAVEMENT LEAVE.) <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />After an employee's accumulated sick leave has <br />been exhausted, accrued vacation leave may be <br /> <br />used in lieu of sick leave. <br /> <br />When absence due to <br /> <br />illness exceeds the amount of paid leave earned, <br /> <br />-48- <br />
