131. <br />Regular Meeting January 12, 2004 Page 5 <br />Advisory Board recommended raising many fees. He also stated the Parks <br />and Recreation Advisory Board did not recommend raising the Membership Fee <br />at the Activity Center since they were raised last year. Mayor <br />Habingreither asked if anyone else wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor <br />Habingreither closed the public hearing. Ms. Narvaiz moved for approval of <br />the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Diaz seconded the motion. Mr. <br />Taylor stated he would like Council to raise the Membership Fees for the <br />Activity Center to Option 2. He stated this will raise the Residential <br />Individual Membership Fees from $80.00 yearly/S6.66 monthly to $130.00 <br />yearly/S10.83 monthly. Mr. Taylor inquired as to the comparisons. Mr. <br />Cobb stated these comparisons came from other municipalities, local gyms <br />and fitness centers. Mr. Montoya stated he is opposed to any Activity <br />Center increases. He stated the intent of this center was not to compete <br />with other gyms and fitness centers. Mayor Habingreither stated the Parks <br />and Recreation Advisory Board has recommended changes. He feels these <br />changes should be approved as recommended, which will allow the new Parks <br />and Recreation Advisory Board a chance to review. Mr. Thomaides thanked <br />the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for their hard work. He also <br />stated he feels the Board has provided Council with reasonable changes. <br />He stated he feels the Activity Center has remained affordable to the <br />community. He also stated he does not support increasing Dunbar fee <br />$30.00. Mr. Thomaides stated he might support approving Option 1 for the <br />Activity Center. Mr. Thomaides moved to amend the Activity 'Center <br />Membership Fees to Option 1, and Mr. Taylor seconded the motion. On roll <br />call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Thomaides and Taylor. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Narvaiz, Mihalkanin, Habingreither, Montoya and Diaz. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />The motion failed. Mr. Thomaides moved to amend the hourly residential <br />rate of the large room at Dunbar Center to $20.00 and Ms. Narvaiz seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. Thomaides moyed to amend the <br />residential rental of both rooms for Dunbar Center to $35.00 and Ms. <br />Narvaiz seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. On roll call for <br />approval of the Ordinance on first reading, the following vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Narvaiz, Thomaides, Mihalkanin, Habingreither, Taylor and Diaz. <br /> <br />NAY: Montoya. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING THE EXTENSION OF A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR ON-PREMISE <br /> <br /> <br />
