preliminary design, not to exceed 6 meetings).
1.4 TASK 3 - FINAL DESIGN

The Engineer will:

1.4.1 Complete surge analysis and recommend case simulations for investigation. For theproposed
project the following would be typical candidate cases for simulation of surges:

CASE 1
CASE 2
CASE 3
CASE 4
CASE 5

Normal pump shutdown with valve operation
Pump Startup with full pipe and valve operation
Total power failure of all operating pumps
Partial power failure - 50% of operating pumps
Pump shutdown w/valve malfunction

Engineer will complete surge analyses as follows:

The transient cases shall be simulated for base case conditions,' as-built, or as
designed for the flow conditions. Include all existing surge protection devices or
proposed devices in the analysis.
If the maximum allowable surge pressures in the system are violated under
conditions in "A" above, additional surge protection devices will be sized and added
to the model. The cases in "A" above will be re-run at the flow rates to determine the
locations (if any), size, characteristics, and new set points for both existing and new
surge protection devices on the system.
Review and interpret results of the computer simulations and provide the City with
three copies of a written report with graphs and plots of the simulation results.

1.4.2 Design surge control measures.

1.4.3 Design thrust blocking and/or joint restraints.

1.4.4 Prepare erosion control plan.

1.4.5 Prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan ("SWPPP").

1.4.6 Prepare construction details.

1.4.7 Prepare general traffic control plan for a maximum of 6 borings across County and State
Highway Roads (contractor to prepare site specific traffic control plan with means and methods).

1.4.8 Prepare a maximum of 12 easements to include:

a) deed plots for individual tracts and assemble base map for easement documentation;
b) record right-of-way drawing of SH 80 right-of-wayper record documents obtained from
TxDOT;
c) field search points for locating existing right-of-way and parcel boundary comers;

5
