<br />142 <br /> <br />regular meeting, december 20, 1976 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Lawrence Pool presented a report containing recommendations of the 1976 <br />Charter Review Commission to the City Council. It is attached and made a <br />part of these minutes. Mr. Pool stated that the Commission had received input <br />from the city staff and from other interested citizens. He further explained <br />that the Commission had discussed, but had no recommendation regarding two areas <br />not contained in the report. The first was the health and sanitation department. <br />Mr. Pool recommended the Council study the situation at the health department and <br />wi th a view towards more efficient organization of the department. He also recommen- <br />ded further study of a proposal to authorize the municipal court judge to grant <br />prolJation. Mayor Craddock moved the report be accepted and that the staff be <br />directed to place the matter on a future agenda for further actioI" Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND THE SAN MARCOS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR ALLO- <br />CATING REVENUES FROM THE HOTEL OCCUPANCY ROOM TAX TO THE SAN MARCOS <br />CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. . <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved to appoint the Mayor and Mr. John Bryant' to serve as the <br />Council f s representatives on the Tourist Development Board. Mr. Breihan seconded <br />the nIDtion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Gordon Hyatt came before the Council with a report on the Industrial Develop- <br />ment Board. Mr. Hyatt explained that the original re~uest for $51,000 (one-third <br />from the city, one-third from the county, and one-third from the chamber) had been <br />reduced to $47,000 and that the amount re~uested from the City was $10,000. <br />Gordon Thompson, Chamber manager, informed the council that a four-year program <br />was planned and that the first year of the program would be the most expensive. <br />Mayor Craddock moved that, in view of the County's receipt of grant funds for the <br />industrial project, the City allocate $10,000 from Revenue Sharing Entitlement <br />No. 7 for industrial development and that authorization be given to proceed I <br />under the program outlined by Mr. Hyatt and Mr. Gordon, Mr. Cavazos seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COuNCI;L .OF -THE "CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING FREE PARKING IN METERED STALLS IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS <br />DISTRICT ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 21 THROUGH SUNDAY, JANUARY 2, 1977; <br />1l.ND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously.
