A-6 NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOP- <br />MENT PROGRAM AREA, TO KOHUT AND COLE; AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE A WARRANTY DEED TO KOHUT AND COLE; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the Ordinance be adopted on third and final <br />reading. Mr. James seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a request by Jack Weatherford for a temporary <br />permit to place a mobile home on a 50-acre tract in the E. Clark <br />Survey, located a 2222 Bishop Street. The Mayor noted that the <br />Planning and Zoning commission recommended approval of the request. <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the permit be approved. Mr. Cavazos seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a request from Cable TV of San Marcos, Inc., <br />for an increase in rates. Mr. Tenorio moved to direct the staff <br />for publish notice of a public hearing to consider the rate increase <br />on January 14, 1980. Mr. James seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for the <br />rezoning of .431 acres out of the T.J. Chambers Addition from <br />"R-l" to "0". Mr. John Stokes was present to make his request. <br />No objections were presented by audience members. The Mayor closed <br />the hearing and directed the reading of an Ordinance having the <br />following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN ~1ARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES <br />AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES <br />AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING <br />OF .431 ACRES OF LAND OUT OF THE T.J. CHAMBERS SURVEY, LOCATED <br />IN THE 1200 BLOCK OF NORTH L.B.J. DRIVE, FROM "R-l" (SINGLE <br />FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "D" (MULTIFAMILY). <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. James seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. James moved to table the next item, a report on the 1980 <br />Census Program, since the Census Bureau representative was not <br />present at the meeting. Mr. Tenorio seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH AQUARENA, INC. FOR THE <br />OPERATION OF A ~1UNICIPAL GOLF COURSE, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br />OF SAID CITY TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY; <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. James moved the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Cavazos seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor directed the reading of an Ordinance having the fOllowing <br />caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF THAT PORTION OF THE STREET <br />KNOWN AS "REDWOOD ROAD" THAT IS LOCATED WITHIN THE CORPORATE <br />LIMITS OFSAID CITY AND ORDERING THE CITY SECRETARY AND <br />DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO ENTER SAID CHANGE IN AND UPON <br />OFFICIAL RECORDS AND MAPS. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved that the Ordinance which changes the name of <br />Redwood Road to "Wonder World Drive" be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. James seconded the motion which passed with six votes in favor <br />and one abstention. Council directed that the second reading of <br />the ordinance be placed on the December 11 special meeting agenda. <br />
