<br />r\lc~ <br /> <br />regu I ar meet i ng, ju I y 23, 1973 page two <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY <br />CHANGING THE ZONING OF PART OF LOT 8, BLOCK 23 OF THE <br />ORIGINAL TOWN OF SAN MARCOS, LOCATED AT 300 NORTH L.B.J. <br />DRIVE, FROM "C" (COMMERCIAL) TO "C-2" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Dr. Tauch moved the Ordinance be approved on first readin~. <br />Mr. DeLa Rosa seconded the motion~ which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Publ ic Hearing to consider a change in <br />zoning of Lot 2, Block 1 in the Sunset Acres Addition, I <br />located at 412 Patricia Drive, from "R-l" to "Cu. Don Vinyard, <br />representing the Duplex Advertising Company, was present to <br />request the change so that a billboard could be placed on <br />the property. Mr. Vinyard said that he felt the area in <br />question was a "natural commercial strip", and that the sign <br />would not unnecessarily obstruct the view of residents. <br />Mr. James Farmer and Mr. & Mrs. Dick Crunk were present to <br />object to the change, stating that th~ billboard was not <br />appropriate in a residential neighborhood, that it did block <br />their view, and that a "C" zoning classification would allow <br />any type of business 9n the property in the future. The <br />Mayor closed the Public Hearing and read the caption of an <br />ordinan~e as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY <br />CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOT 2, BLOCK 1 IN THE SUNSET <br />ACRES ADDITION, LOCATED AT 412 PATRICIA DRIVE, FROM "R-1" <br />(SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "C" (COMMERCIAL). <br /> <br />Mr. Cunn,ingham moved the Ordinance not be approved. I <br />Mr. DeLa ,Ras-a seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />The Mayor opened aPubl ic Hearing to consider a change in <br />zoning of approximately 124 acres in two tracts out of the <br />J.M. Veramendi Leagues No.1 and 2, parts of Blocks 1, 3 and <br />4 of the Fairlawn Addition, and all of the W.P. Donaldson <br />Subdivision, all located near I.H. 35, from "R-l" to "Cu. <br />H.C. Kyle, representing the Planning and Zoning Commission, <br />stated that the Commission felt the newly annexed property <br />was already being used as commercial property, and that in <br />the interests of developing the land to its highest and best <br />usage, the rezoning was in order. There were no objections to <br />the zoning change.
