<br />PAGE 2 <br /> <br />1.5 That no license shall be issued for more than one year, and such litense <br />may be renewed from year to year upon application of the holder of such 1icens . <br />License year to begin on January 1st of each year. In the event the holder of a <br />license fails to renew the required license and later desires renewal he shall <br />take the required examination or pay all prior years license fees. <br /> <br />1.6 That any person, desiring a Master Electrician's license or a Journey- <br />man Electrician's license, shall make application in writing to the City Electrical <br />Inspector requesting an examination covering such certificates. Application <br />shall be accompanied by fees as hereinafter provided. The required examination <br />fees are not refundable. An applicant for a Master Electrician's license shall <br />show proof of five years experience as a Journeyman Electrician. An applicant for <br />a Journeyman Electrician shall show proof of two years as an apprentice. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1.7 Written examination shall be given the applicant within five (5) days <br />after filing application. A grade of seventy-five (75%) per cent shall be the <br />lowest passing grade. Examination papers shall be reviewed and graded by the <br />examining board as heretofore provided for, and the applicant shall be notified <br />of the results of same within five (5) days after taking examination. Applicants <br />failing in the first examination shall not be re-examined for fifteen (15) days. <br />If applicant is unsuccessful in passing his examination on second try he shall <br />not be re-examined for a period of one (1) year. <br /> <br />1.8 That the examination fee for Master Electrician's License shall be <br />Fifteen ($15.00) Dollars. The original Master Electrician's License will <br />be One Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars and Twenty-Five ($25.00) Dollars for annual <br />renewal. <br /> <br />1.9 That the examination fee for Journeyman Electrician's and Maintenance <br />Electrician Restricted License will be Ten ($10.~~) Dollars. The original <br />license will be Ten ($10.00) Dollars and Five ($5.00) Dollars for annual renewal. <br /> <br />1.10 That in the event the applicant fails to pass the examination, license <br />fee will be refunded. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1.11 That the following acts, work and conduct shall be expressly permitted <br />without examination or license: <br />a. Electrical work done by a property owner in a residence owned <br />and occupied by him as his home. Provided, however, that all work and service <br />herein named or referred to shall be subject to permit, inspection, and approval <br />in accordance with the terms of this ordinance. <br />b. Electrical work done by persons engaged by any public service <br />company in the construction and maintenance of their public utility systems. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR. <br /> <br />2.1 That the office of Electrical Inspector in and for the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, is hereby created and that said office shall be filled by,appoint- <br />ment made by the Chief Building Inspector with the approval of the City Manager. <br />That said Electrical Inspector shall be well versed in the rules and requirements of the <br />National Electrical Code. Before assuming authority conferred by this ordinance, <br />the Electrical Inspector shall take an oath of office usually administered to other <br />City Officials and shall give a bond to the City of San Marcos, Texas, in the penal <br />sum of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars conditioned upon the faithful performance <br />of his duties. <br /> <br />2.2 That the Electrical Inspector shall not engage in the business of <br />Master Electrician as defined in this ordinance either directly or indirectly <br />within the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2.3 That the salary of the Electrical Inspector shall be determined by the <br />City Manager. <br /> <br />2.4 That the Electrical Inspector shall be responsible for the superv1s10n <br />and inspection of all electrical work within the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br />
