<br />PAGE 3 <br /> <br />2.5 That the Electrical Inspector shall;~pon application on proper forms <br />for the installation of electrical wiring, devices and equipment, and upon pay- <br />ment of required fees, make,inspecti-ous of all new electrical in.stallations and <br />make re-inspections of any existing electrical installations at such time as he <br />may deem necessary for the purpose of the safeguarding of life and property within <br />the City of San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2.6 That the Electrical Inspector shall'have the right to enter any building <br />during reasonable hours in the discharge of his duty for the purpose of making any <br />inspection or test of any electrical wiring, device, and equipment therein and <br />where such installations are fOund hazardous to life or property or to the work <br />of the Fire Department, or otherwise not in conformity with existing ordinances, <br />he is hereby empowered to disconnect such parts of installations or to order <br />disconnection of electric service to any building after having 'given notice, in <br />writing to the Parties concerned, and such defective electric wiring shall not <br />be again connected until made safe as directed by the Electrical Inspector. <br /> <br />2.7 That it shall be unlawful for any person to interfere with the Electrical <br />Inspector in the discharge of his duties or to prevent him from carrying out the <br />provisions of this ordinance. <br /> <br />2.8 That the Electrical Inspector, and/or Electrical Board shall decide all <br />disputed questions pertaining to the installation of all electric wiring, devices <br />and equipment, hereinafter provided for in this ordinance. Decisions shall be <br />governed by taking into consideration the National Electrical Code, the National Safety <br />Code, the Minimum Housing Code of the City of San Marcos, Texas, and the standards <br />generally recognized by the trade concerning the safe and proper installation of <br />electrical wiring, devices and equipment. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2.9 That the Electrical Inspector and/or the Electrical Board shall have the <br />right and authority to suspend the license of any Master Electrician upon the Vio- <br />lation of any portion of this ordinance, and the Electrical Inspector shall, uport <br />suspension, file with the City Secretary a statement setting forth the reasons <br />for such suspension. A copy of such report shall be given the suspended Master <br />Electrician upon his request. If the Master Electrician feels aggrieved by such <br />suspension, he may then notify the City Council in writing of his feelings artd <br />may appear and be heard by said City Council. If, upon full hearing before the <br />City Council, it is determined by said Council that such suspension is well <br />founded, then the electrician's License will be revoked and the City Attorney dir- <br />ected to take such action as may be necessary to forfeit the bond of such Master <br />Electrician. In the event the suspended Master Electrician fails or refuses to <br />appeal to the City Council within ten (10) days then the City Secretary shall <br />place before the City Council the Electrical Inspector's report. It shall then <br />be the duty of said City Council to revoke the suspension order or revoke the <br />license and forfeit the bond as aforesaid. <br /> <br />2.10 That the City Electrical Inspector shall not issue a Master Electrician's <br />License to any previous holder of a revoked license, except upon new application, <br />approved by the Examining Board after a fifteen (15) day waiting period. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. APPLICATIONS FOR PERMIT AND INSPECTION. <br /> <br />3.1 That before proceeding with the installation, alteration of or the ad- <br />dition to any electrical wiring or equipment within or on any building, structure, <br />or premises, publicly or privately owned in the City of San Marcos, Texas, the <br />Master Electrician in charge of such proposed work shall first file with the City <br />Electrical Inspector an application requesting the inspection and secure a permit <br />therefor. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3.2 That application for such inspection and permit describing the work to <br />be done shall be made in writing to the City Electrical Inspector by the Master <br />Electrician installing the work; shall give the exact street number of the pre- <br />mises on which work is to be done, date inspection is desired, name of the owner <br />or occupant, name of the electrician doing work and class of wiring. <br /> <br />3.3 That on all applications where plans and specifications require instal- <br />lation above the minimum standards as set forth in this code, the plans and spec- <br />ifications for such work shall be accompanied with application for inspection. <br />No deviations may be made from insta11ati6n described in such plans and specifi- <br />cations without the written approval of the owner,or architect. <br />
