The Mayor introduced an ordinance with the following caption: AN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE AUTHORITY, RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A CITY-WIDE TELEVISION SIGNAL DISTRIBUTION SERVICE FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF AUDIO, VIDEO, AND RADIO SIGNALS; AND PROVIDING THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS UNDER WHICH SAID SYSTEM SHALL BE OPERATED AND MAINTAINED Mr. King reading. call the moved approval of the ordinance on third and final Mr. Dela Rosa seconded the motion, and on roll following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: ABSTAIN: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, King None Yarbrough The Mayor declared the ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. The Mayor introduced an ordinance ~ith the following caption: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND REGULATING VARIOUS FEES AND CHARGES FOR CABLE TELEVISION SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS Mr. Flores moved approval of the ordinance on third and final reading. Mrs. Emery seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: ABSTAIN: Dela Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, King None Yarbrough The Mayor declared the ordinance Passed~ Approved and Adopfed. Upon suggestion of Mrs. Emery, it was agreed that the Mayor would write a letter to the editors of local newspapers and the San Antonio Express and Austin American, commending the many students al1'd townspeople of all ages" who participated in the Clean-up along the San Marcos River~ March 11. Mr. Flores gave the land Commitee's report on the request for the City to open the alley between Cheatham and Grove.$treet. He recommended that the City Marlagerask the City.Engin.eer to survey the platted alley; and that the property-ownera affected by the alley be asked to write a letter making formal request for the alley to ~e opened. 'M'r.. King said he had' been approached by some volunteer firem, about the need for an area suitable for burning some old cars in a drill. The City Manager said a place was being sought that was safe to h~ld the exercise. Mr. Dela'Rosa said some persons who had previp4s1y .served on the Council had talked to him about the possible uSe of the old disposal plant property for a park. Councilmen Flores sug- gested that, since the old disposal plant is still in. use, they might have been referring to the old "dump grounds" on Lime Kiln Road. He said the Land Committee had made a study of that prop- erty Some years ago, and, after getting an appraisal,ha~ recommend- ed that the City not sell the .land at the pr'el1!eJ1t...time.
