APPROVING THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN AND THE FEASIBILITY OF RELOCATION FOR NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM NO. TEX. A-6, THIRD ACTION YEAR; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY Councilman Yarbrough moved adoption of the Ordinance as an ~m~rgency~ Dr. Tauch seconded the motion and on 1'01 I cal I, the following vote was recorded: AYE: 'Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, Tauch, Yarbrough I ,NAY: None The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. The Mayor opened a public hearing on a request for a change of zoning on 1.8 acres on North L.B.J. Drive from "R-l" to "0", and cal led for discussion. " \. Mr. Yarbrough commented that the exit from the apartments on the property w~sdangerous for drivers turning onto l.B.J. Drive. . The City ManaQer was instructed to contact the property owners to correct the situation. /ill's. Ruth Thomas asked how many addl'tional apartments were planned for the site. The City Manager said he did not have that information, but right-of-way has been acquired by the City.to widen North L.B.J. Drive. The Mayor said the Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended the change of zoning. After fu~ther disc~ssi~n; t~eMayo~ closed the publ ic hearing. The Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the caption as follows: I AN 6RDI~ANCE A~ENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES'AND RESTR.lCTS tHE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING'THE ZONING OF A 1.8 ACRE TRACT OF LAND OUT OF THE T.J. CHAMBERS LEAGUE, lOCATED ON OR ABOUT 1225 NORTH L.B.J. DRIVE, FROM "R-1" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "0" (~ULTIFAM.lLY) Dr. Tauch moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading; Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion. Mr. Etheredge stated that it did not seem fair to grant th~ request in view of the'fact that other'property owners who had been in the City for some time had been d~nied simi lar requests. Joe Perrone, owner of the property said he could sense from the prev~ous hearing that the Council was not in favor of granting changes of zon i ng for more apartments.
