I The Mayor introduced an ord i nance and read the capt i on as fo II ows: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION,3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOT 8, BLOCK 2 OUT .OF THE FOREST HILLS ADDITION, FROM "R-l" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "0" (MULTIFAMILY) Mr. Ya~brough moved the request for change of zoning be denied. I The Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the following caption:' AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF A HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX; PROVI 0 I NG FOR THE DEF I N I TI ON OF CERTAIN TERMS; ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF THE TAX AND EXCEPTIONS TO ITS IMPOSITION; PROVIDING FOR,THE COLLECTION OF SUCH TAX; REQUIRING THE FILING OF REPORTS OF COLLECTIONS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY. MANAGER TO MAKE NECESSARY RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO THE COLLECTION OF SUCH TAX .ANDAFFORDING HIM ACCESS TO BOOKS AND RECORDS; DECLARING FOR WHAT THE PROCEEDS OF SUCH TAX SHALL BE USED; PROVIDING PENALTIES fOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND SETTING FORTH OF A SAVINGS CLAUSE ~ Mr. Yarbrough moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. Mr. Cunningham seconded the motion. Mr. Leo Poore, Executive Director of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, explained that the tax would be used to promote tourism in the San Marcos area.
