Dr. .Suckle <br />sai,d .there"w.ere only 14 parking spaces provided at Jon Bones, <br />The Mayor closed the publ ichearing. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an ord i nance and read the capt i on as fo II ows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION,3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, <br />STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY <br />CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOT 8, BLOCK 2 OUT .OF THE FOREST <br />HILLS ADDITION, FROM "R-l" (SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO <br />"0" (MULTIFAMILY) <br /> <br />Mr. Ya~brough moved the request for change of zoning be denied. <br />Dr. T auch seconded the mot i on. On 1'0 II ca II, the fo II ow i ng vote, <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, Tauch, <br />Yarbrough <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried, and the ,request for change <br />of zoning denied. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the following caption:' <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF <br />A HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX; PROVI 0 I NG FOR THE DEF I N I TI ON <br />OF CERTAIN TERMS; ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF THE TAX <br />AND EXCEPTIONS TO ITS IMPOSITION; PROVIDING FOR,THE <br />COLLECTION OF SUCH TAX; REQUIRING THE FILING OF <br />REPORTS OF COLLECTIONS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY. MANAGER <br />TO MAKE NECESSARY RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO <br />THE COLLECTION OF SUCH TAX .ANDAFFORDING HIM ACCESS <br />TO BOOKS AND RECORDS; DECLARING FOR WHAT THE PROCEEDS <br />OF SUCH TAX SHALL BE USED; PROVIDING PENALTIES fOR <br />THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE; AND SETTING FORTH OF A SAVINGS CLAUSE <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Mr. Yarbrough moved the Ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. Cunningham seconded the motion. Mr. Leo Poore, Executive <br />Director of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, explained that <br />the tax would be used to promote tourism in the San Marcos area. <br />After discussion, with participation by visitors and Counci Imen, <br />the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: Cunningham, DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, <br />Tauch, Yarbrough <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance approved on first reading. <br /> <br />Next item of business was appointment of a Board of Equal ization, <br />On the basis of previous nominations, Mr, DeLa,Rosa move:d appoint- <br />ment of David Dailey, James E. Hearn and W.D. .Owen.tothe Board of <br />Equa I i zat i on. Mr. Etheredge seconded the mot i qn, whi ch passed <br />unan i mous I y. <br />
