He requested that Mr. Yarbrough give background <br />'information on the subject. Mr. Yarbrough explained that the <br />names proposed for the committee had par~icipatRd in the act iv- <br />i~iestb beautify the San Marcos River, arid that they had done <br />a fine job. The Mayor read the I ist of names proposed as <br />follows: Mrs. Jack,N. Stovall, Mrs. .James Taylor, Mrs. Walter <br />L. Buckner, Mr. Bob Kerchevi'lle, Dr. Glenn Longley, Mr. Joe <br />Rodriguez', Mr.Rober~ Poll-ard, Mr. Dave Horton, Mr. J.C. Jackson, <br />Mrs. Gene Scrutchin, M~. Tom Utter, Mrs. Jake Sui I ivan, <br />Mr. Jimmy Shelburn and Mr. Wal lace Dockal I. Dr. Tauch moved I <br />,the Bicentennial Committee be-appointed, as read. Mr. Etheredge <br />seconded the motion, with the suggestion that the appointments <br />be for one ye ar. Dr'. Tauch amended his mo~ i on ~o state that <br />the persons nominated serve on the Bicentennial Committee to <br />be appointed annually. On roll c~ll, the motion was approved <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor requested the Counci I consider the awarding of a <br />contract to the lowest bidder for the Group Hospital ization <br />and Life Insurance policies for City employees. Mr. Gresham <br />'expl.ained that, Blue Cross-Blue Shield had submit~ed the lowest <br />bids and recommended ~he acceptance of Blue Cross-Blue Shield <br />Alternative #1. (see attached bid sheet) Mr. Yarbrough moved <br />,the C i ~y award the con~ract to Blue Cross-B I ue Sh i,el,d for <br />Alternative #1; Mr. E~heredge seconded the motion which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance with the following caption. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF <br />ORD INANCES OF THE C!TY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ENTITLED "WATER AND SEWER AND SEWER DISPOSAL" <br />BY DELETING SECTION 30-35 OF ARTI~LE I I THEREOF; <br />SUBSTITUTING A NEW SECTION UNDER THE SAME <br />NUMBER; ,AN~ DECLA~ING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />H'e')eq~e'si;ed 'th~t it be" read in its entirety by the City <br />Secretary" Mr. Yarbrough moved the Ot,d inance be appt'oved <br />on an emergency basis.
