vc: l.. ,t p. / AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A BOARD TO ADVISE THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE CITY ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF IN MATTERS CONCERNING THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE CITIZENS OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; ENACTING PROVISIONS INCIDENT AND RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY UPON ITS PASSAGE. I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: Section 1. It is the policy of the City of San Marcos and the purpose of this ordinance to establish a board to advise the City Council and the City administrative staff in matters concerning the ENVIRONMENT of our citizens. There is hereby created and established the ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE. Section 2. The Environmental Advisory Committee shall consist of seven (7) members. Two of these members shall be the City ~ Health Officer and the City Veterinarian, and the five citizen members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. The citizen members shall serve a term of two (2) years, beginning in April, 1971, The members of the Environmental Advisory Committee shall receive no compensation for their services except as authorized by the City Council. Section 3. At the first meeting of the Board, the members shall elect from their own numbers, a chairman, a vice-chair- man and a secretary, for a one-year term. The chairman or the vice-chairman shall preside at all meetings and the secretary shall keep a true record of all matters coming . before the Committee. The Committee shall meet at least bi-monthly, and shall establish its meeting dates. Section 4. The City Engineer, the City Sanitarian and the Director of Parks & Recreation shall be ex-offico members of the Committee and shall be available for advice and consultation but shall have no voting powers. -l-
