<br />regular meeting, march 22, 1971 <br /> <br />page three <br /> <br />/~z <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor reminded the Council that the five citizen <br />members of the Environmental Advisory Committee should <br />be appointed. Mr. King submitted the name of Gayle <br />(Mrs, Kay) Buckner for consideration. Mr. Flores asked <br />that the name of Mr, Juan Paloma be added to the list. <br />The Mayor read the list of other persons previously sug- <br />gested, as follows: <br />Dr. Emmie Craddock, Dr. Glenn Longley, David Dailey, <br />Bobby Hill, Dr. T,R, Buie, W,E. West. Don Trepagnier, and <br />Dr, Herbert Hannon. He stated that the Ordinance passed <br />by the Council March 8 provided that the City Health Officer <br />and City Veteranarian ~erve on the Committee, with the City <br />Engineer, the City Sanitarian and the Director of Parks and <br />Recreation as ex-officio members. Dr. Tallant and Dr. Tickle <br />had agreed to serve. The Mayor asked Councilmen to write <br />five of the ten proposed names on a slip of paper. The el- <br />ection resulted in the appointment of Mrs. Kay Buckner, <br />Dr. T.R. Buie, Dr, Emmie Craddock, Dr. Glenn Lomgley and <br />Mr. Paloma to the Environmental Advi$~ry Committee. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Acting City Manager Warren Leddick introduced Mr, Harry <br />Jewett of Clifford Cason and Associates, Inc., San Antonio, <br />who explained the availability of a code enforcement program <br />through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br />A proposed contract with his firm to prepare the application <br />had previously been distributed to the Council for study. <br />Maximum cost of the services of Clifford Cason and Associates <br />was set out as $3,000. Mr. Jewett said he understood that HUD <br />funds were available at this time. Mr. Jewett answered quest- <br />ions and the matter was discussed. College Courts area was <br />suggested as ~he best section of San Marcos to develop the <br />program. Mr. Yarbrough suggested a workshop for the Council <br />be held before making a decision, By common consent, it was <br />agreed to hold a work shop on the code enforcement program <br />at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 24.
