regular meeting, march 22, 1971 page three /~z I The Mayor reminded the Council that the five citizen members of the Environmental Advisory Committee should be appointed. Mr. King submitted the name of Gayle (Mrs, Kay) Buckner for consideration. Mr. Flores asked that the name of Mr, Juan Paloma be added to the list. The Mayor read the list of other persons previously sug- gested, as follows: Dr. Emmie Craddock, Dr. Glenn Longley, David Dailey, Bobby Hill, Dr. T,R, Buie, W,E. West. Don Trepagnier, and Dr, Herbert Hannon. He stated that the Ordinance passed by the Council March 8 provided that the City Health Officer and City Veteranarian ~erve on the Committee, with the City Engineer, the City Sanitarian and the Director of Parks and Recreation as ex-officio members. Dr. Tallant and Dr. Tickle had agreed to serve. The Mayor asked Councilmen to write five of the ten proposed names on a slip of paper. The el- ection resulted in the appointment of Mrs. Kay Buckner, Dr. T.R. Buie, Dr, Emmie Craddock, Dr. Glenn Lomgley and Mr. Paloma to the Environmental Advi$~ry Committee. I Acting City Manager Warren Leddick introduced Mr, Harry Jewett of Clifford Cason and Associates, Inc., San Antonio, who explained the availability of a code enforcement program through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. A proposed contract with his firm to prepare the application had previously been distributed to the Council for study. Maximum cost of the services of Clifford Cason and Associates was set out as $3,000. Mr. Jewett said he understood that HUD funds were available at this time. Mr. Jewett answered quest- ions and the matter was discussed. College Courts area was suggested as ~he best section of San Marcos to develop the program. Mr. Yarbrough suggested a workshop for the Council be held before making a decision, By common consent, it was agreed to hold a work shop on the code enforcement program at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 24. Mr. Jewett said a repre- sentative of his firm would be present, and he would contact HUD to send a representative. The Mayor, recognizing that this was the last regular meeting before the Election, thanked Councilman Zavesky fIDr his three years of dedicated service to the community, and for his un- failing spirit of cooperation in making decisions for the City.
