<br />Two requests were received from the County Commissioners
<br />relative to housing and equipment for the Surplus Commod...
<br />ities Program in' Hays County. Copies of the Commissioners
<br />Court Minutes,.re attached. The Mayor referred the first
<br />request to the Land Committee for investigation. The second
<br />request was that the City pay half the cost of an air-condit-
<br />ioner for the building to house the office. Mr. King moved
<br />that the second request be tabled for further study. Mr. Flores
<br />seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was I
<br />recorded :,

<br />NAY: b~La Rosa, Etheredge
<br />
<br />The Mayor declared the motion carried.
<br />
<br />The Mayor read a letter of resignation from Hollis W. Smith,
<br />Councilman, Place 3. Mr. Flores moved that the resignation
<br />be accepted, with regret. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion,
<br />which passed unanimously.
<br />
<br />The Mayor ,,,aid a 5pe,cial Election would have to be called to
<br />filltheva'cancy on 'Place 3. He suggested July 13 as a possible
<br />date. ~r. King moved that a Special Election be called for
<br />July 13. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion, which passed
<br />unanimously.

<br />The Mayor said the Planning ~Zoning Commission had approved
<br />a request for rezoning from Mr.AII~n Connell, which would re-
<br />quire a public hearing before the Council. Mr. Flores "moved
<br />that a public hearing b,' called on ~une28 at ,7:DO p.m. to
<br />consider a change of zoning on Lot 32, Millview, Addition, I
<br />from "R-l" (single-family residential),to"M" (mixed).
<br />Mrs. Emery seconded the motion, whic.h passed unanimously.

<br />The Mayor,reportedto.the Council that a previous Council
<br />had changed the,name of Olmqs Drive to "SessomDrive", honor-
<br />ing one of,the founders of the City of San Marcos. Signswere
<br />subsequently put up but were removed when it was found the
<br />name ,had been misspelled. Mr. Yarbrough.said he ijad ascertain-
<br />ed ~hat the name had been legally changed, and then had given
<br />instructions for the street signs to be changed to "Sessom Drive".

<br />Councilman King, member of the Land Committee, reported that
<br />Glenn Grey, estimator in charge ,of acquiring right-of-way for
<br />the, City, reco,mmended ,that Corbin L,. Snow, jr. be retained as
<br />attorney for a,cquisition, of right-of-way on SessomDrive.
<br />Mr. King moved that the Council authorize employment of Corbin
<br />L. Snow, jr. as attorney f~r Clcquisition of right-of-way.
<br />Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

<br />Mrs. Emery proposed the name of Jack Rieber, local architect,
<br />for consideration to fill a vacancy on the Housing Board of
<br />, Adjustment and AppeClls .
<br />
<br />Mr-. DeLa Rosa proposed the name of Gilbert Medina to fill the
<br />vacancy on the Urban Renewal Board.,

<br />Appointme~ts to the boards will be placed on the agenda ,for
<br />the June 28 meeting.
