The Mayor introduced a request from the Urban Renewal Agency that the Council designate an official name for the Historical Plaza. Mr. Flores moved that it be named "Juan Veramendi Historical Plaza". Mr. King seconded the motion, On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: ABSTAIN: Emery, Etheredge, Flo~es, King, Tauch, Yarbrough None DeLa Rosa The Mayor declared the motion carried. The Mayor introduced for Council consideration certain appoint- ments to City boards to be made. Mr. Yarbrough said two vacancies on the Planning & Zoning Commiss~on should be filled, and that the names of Dr. Emmie Craddock and Mr. J.L. Thompson had been pro- posed. Dr. Tauch moved that Dr. Craddock and Mr. Thpmpson be ap- pointed to fill the two vacancies. Mrs. Emery seconded the motion. A discussion on the Council's policy on submission of names for appointment to boards was introduced by Mr. Flores. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Emery, Flores, King, Tauch, Yarbrough NAY: DeLa Rosa, Etheredge The Mayor declared the motion carried. Mrs. Emery moved that Dr. Nilon Tallant be reappointed City Health Officer. Mr. DeLa Rosa seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mr. DeLa Rosa proposed the name of the Rev. Alphonso Washington for consideration to fill the next vacancy on the Planning & Zoning Commission. Mr. Flores moved that Mr. Jo~e Rodriguez and reappointed to the Housing Authority Board. the motion, whi6h passed unanimousl~. Mr. Ruben Ruiz be Dr. Tauch seconded The Mayor introduced an o~dinance and read the following caption: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED MAY 23'66 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF A 1.4~-ACRE TRACT IN THE H.B. JONES 1ST ADDITION F~OM "R-l"TO "R-2"; ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE Mr. King moved adoption of the ordinance on third and final reading. Mrs. Emery seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, King, Yarbrough, Tauch NAY: None The Mayor declared the ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted.
