Mr. Smith seconded the <br />motion. Mr. Flores said: "You don't need a motion - the <br />let1l;er said they resigned only if the Board is increased <br />to seven, and that motion was defeated." The Mayor with- <br />drew his motion. <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the Council accept, wilith regret, <br />the resignation of Dr. Walts, and thank him for his five <br />yea~s of faithful service on the Urban Renewal Board. <br />Mr. Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Zavesky said hehild had some complaints from people <br />living on .Barba~a Drive about the necessity of driving <br />five or six miles to take their children to the new <br />Junior High School. . He suggested the Council ~sk the <br />State Highway Department to open the access road to two- <br />way traffic, to give people a quicker ro.ute to the school. <br />The Mayor said the Highway Department had repeatedly re- <br />fused~o reverse its decision to make all access. roads to <br />IH35 in San Marcos, one-way. Mr. Serur said he didn't <br />think there was anything the Council could do about it, <br />considering the many unsuccessful attempts in the past. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that work had begun that morning <br />on the $1,800, 000 Water &' Sewer PI' oj ect, I t comprises <br />eight miles of water line and nine miles of sewer line, <br />two water storage tanks and a neW well.
