<br />36 <br /> <br />work out some program in securing ~~e ri~ht-of-wa1. <br /> <br />o <br />C!j <br />t::::::J <br />::= <br />Q.. <br /> <br />Alderman Smith stated that he had made a study of the tax <br />valuations, and he suggested that in the next year, the City <br />hi re a pro fes sional appraiser from some 0 ther City to evaluate <br />the property in San Marcos. Alderman Smith made a motion that <br />the City hire a professional ap:oraisl5'r to evaluate the properties <br />in San Marcos. Alderman Beecroft seconded the motion. A vote <br />was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br />It was stated that the work may not be dOne until next veal'. <br />Mr. Barbee stated that the Sch~ol Board had stated that" it .would <br />pay for 50% of the expense on the property evaluated wi thin the <br />City Limits. <br /> <br />Alderman 3mi th made a motion that the City make a blanket <br />increase in tax valuations of 10%. Tne Council did not agree, <br />therefore, no one seconded the motion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A report was made on the Park Construction Fund balance. <br />Alderman Hill made a motion that Mr. W. G. Barbee be aUvhorized <br />to invest (~50,000.OO from the Par1{ Fund in U. S. Government <br />Bonds for a term of not more than 91 days. Alderman Allen <br />seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulteD. unanimously <br />in favor of the mction. <br /> <br />Alderman Allen made a motion that Mr. Barbee be authorized <br />to buy $25,000.00 direct obligations of the U. 3. Government, <br />out of the UtiIityReserve Fund, the same to ce placed in escrow <br />with the Mercantile National Bank, under the requirements of <br />1951 ~ater % Sewer Revenue Bond Ordinance, the obligations to be <br />for a periOd of ten years or less from date of purchase. Alderman <br />Je Viney seconded the motion.
