<br />Mr. Barbee then suggested that r~. Mcwilliams, street supt.,l()l I <br />make a report on all streets that he plans to work on in the ooming I <br />year. He stated that, in this way, the money would be available <br />from the warrants in time to begin the street work earlier. The <br />Council agreed with this plan. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the problem of the people who live near <br />sewer that do not tie on. Mr. Barbee suggested that James Burwell <br />make another survey to determine the number of owners who could tie <br />on. It was suggested that a pOliceman accompany Mr. Burwell on <br />his survey. The council ~~en gave instructions that Mr. Burwell <br />check each house to determine whether or not they are connected to <br />city sewer, and if not. the policeman is to issue a ticket to the <br />owner. The owner will be informed that no action will be taken <br />in fining him, if he ties on to city sewer within 30 days. If <br />he does not tie on within 30 days, he will be fined. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The council discussed the matter of closing the alley next to <br />Gene scrutchin~ property. They agreed to close said alley, which <br />runs from Belvin St. to Burleson st., provided Mr. Sc~~tchin signs <br />an agreement of some sorb, releasing the City of San Marcos, from <br />any liability that might occur from drainage of water and that <br />he agree to do nothing to stop the drainage of water down said alley. <br />Mr. Barbee stated that Mr. Morgan, city Attorney, is drawing the <br />necessary papers for this action. Alderman Beecroft made a motion <br />that the above mentioned alley be closed, with provisions concerning <br />water drainage. Alderman smith seconded the motion. A vote was <br />taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />Mr. Barbee reported that I,w. ~. H. Huddleston, Jr., Texas <br />Military District, Austin, Texas, had contacted him concerning the <br />possibility of the City furnishing the Regular Army Reserve a <br />3 acre tract of land to be us ed as a site for a ;~100, 000. 00 <br />Armory. It had been suggested that there mi@~t be a space in the <br />park for such a building. After a discussion, the Council agreed <br />to refer the matter to the park Board for further study and considera- <br />tion.
