Mr. Storey suggested a payment -co the City of l~ per gallon as pay- <br />ment for tho franchise. The City Manager t".las: directed to contact the City Attorney <br />and draft an ordinance fix1ng a $25.00 annu21 fee fo:r all cornmercial planes <br />using the field as a base of operations. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager furnished the Council the tabulation of the bids <br />on the excavating-grading machine as per bid opening of March 6th, as follows: <br /> <br />GiTard MacJlinery Company, San Antonio <br />Hi-Nay Equipment Company, Houston <br />Hi-Way i1.achinery Company, DaIle, <br />*Hays County Implement, Kyle <br /> <br />$32,776.00 <br />$32,945.00 <br />$32,975.00 <br />$7,77b.75 <br /> <br />*Did not meet specifications <br /> <br />Alderman Hillburn made a motion, seconded by Alderman Steakley, that <br />the bid of the Girard Machinery Company, San Antonio, in the amount of $32,776.00 <br />be accepted, it being the lowest bid in accordance with the specifications, and <br />that final decision as to method of payment be deferred until the regular meeting <br />of April 8th. Th9 motion was put to vote and the ayes end nayes were as follOYls: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />Aldermen Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hi l1bUI'n <br />Korff <br />Steakley <br /> <br />NAYES: None <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor declared the motion passed and approved. <br /> <br />The City ~anager suggested that the Council take final action on re- <br />"tcnnlog the service~ of a competent consulting en9ineering firm to assist in the <br />improven\ents and expansion to the sewage disposal plant. After a complete dis- <br />cussion of the merits and qualifications of various engineering firms interested <br />in doing the work for the city, Alderman Beecroft made a motion, which was <br />seconded by Aldermiln Korff, that the City Manager be authorized to prepare and <br />forward an engineering contract to the :firm of Freese, Nichols & Turner, Houston, <br />Texas, for their acceptance. This motion received the unanimous approval of the <br />Council, and the r,';ayo:r directed the City iAanagex to act in accordance with the <br />wishes of the Council. <br /> <br />There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the <br />Council the meeting, on motion, adjourned at 5:00 o'clock P.
