the City may be advised as to the anticipated ~jjH l'- ,. ,.,...3 const;. i, j ruction costs of the authorized portions of the project; and (b) To assist the City to secure competitive bids by reliable contractors, to be present when the bids are opened, to analyze the bids submitted and to recommend I as to award of contracts; and (c) To check all shop drawings, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and other construction materials to the end that the construction is in complete accordance with the plans and specifications; and (d) Approve all equipment offered by the contractor to determine if it meets with the specifications, requirements and needs of the City and is in accordance with the specifications. C. CONSTRUCTION PHASE (1) Upon written authorization from City to begin const- ruction, the Engineers shall stake out all work, establish grades, I and check to see that the interest of the City is protected; and (2) Check all monthly estimates and make regular reports to the City as to progress; and (3) Make final inspection, check all construction, and report to the City as to the acceptance of the work; and (4) To make "as built" plans and drawings of the work constructed and furnish'a set of reproducible drawings to the City for their record. o. A. For the services and materials to be furnished by the Engineers hereunder, the City agrees to pay, and Engineers agree I to accept, a fee equal to nine per cent (9%) of the construction cost of the work designed by the Engineers. The sum of $1,000.00 to be paid for the PRELIMINARY PHASE of the work shall be construed to be a part of the said fee, and is not in addition to said fee. B. The fee due to Engineers hereunder (exclusive of the fixed fee for the Preliminary Phase) shall be payable in installments. The first installment, for a sum of money equal to seventy-five per cent (70%) of the total fee of the Engineers, less the $1,000.00
