<br />,2,c t <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Page -2- <br /> <br />10 May 1960 <br /> <br />~ <br />:0 <br />~ <br />n <br />n <br /> <br />The City Manager ~resented a petition requesting additional im- <br />provements to the ~an Marcos Airport. The Council was informed of the <br />money already spent and the plans for additional improvements in the <br />current fiscal year. It was the pleasure of the Council that cthec work be <br />accomplished as planned. <br /> <br />Mr. Watson, 947 Field street, has requested a parking permit. The <br />Council agreed that established policy prevented issuing permits of this <br />nature. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that several of the committees of the <br />Chamber of Commerce had recommended relaxing parking restriction in an <br />attempt to stimulate trade. He recommended that the Council consider a <br />trial period of "courtesy" parking after 12 noon on Saturday. Alderman <br />Hillburn moved the adoption of an amendment to the Parking Meter Ordinance <br />authorizing the "courtesy" parking or "free" parking for a period of seven <br />weeks ending on the 31st of June, 1960. This motion was seconded by <br />Alderman Davis and on roll call the ayes and nayes were: <br /> <br />Ayesl <br /> <br />Aldermen Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hi llbu rn <br />Korff <br /> <br />Nayes: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />The City Manager was instructed to have the Chamber of Commerce <br />conduct a survey to determine if this policy should be continued. <br /> <br />Mr. Fuller stated that the Fire Marshal and two paid firemen will <br />attend the Firemen's Training School at College ~tation on July 17-22. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council approved the publication of a list, giving informa- <br />tion believed to be pertinent and not unlawful, of births on record. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported he had.entered into a temporary agree- <br />ment with Camp Gary for the collection of the garbage in the housing area. <br />This agreement will cover a seven week period until the beginning of the <br />new Federal fiscal year. At that time it is anticipated that a new con- <br />tract will be entered into which will provide a charge of $1,825.00 for a <br />twice-weekly collection from 44 units. Additional units will be charged <br />$3.50 per month per unit. This will not include any'rubbish collection <br />unless an additional charge is made. <br /> <br />The City Manager requested that the money received from Camp Gary <br />be used to purchase additional equipment to replace some of the wornout <br />trucks in the Sanitation Department. Alderman Beecroft made a motion <br />that as soon as a contract is signed with Camp Gary, Mr. Fuller shoUld <br />call for bids on the equipment needed. Alderman Hillburn seconded, <br />motion carried. <br /> <br />The Tax Assessor-Gollector submitted a list of adjustments to the <br />1959 tax roll. Alderman Hillburn moved the tax roll be adjusted as pre- <br />sented. Alderman Korff seconded, motion carried. The ~i~t follows and <br />is made a part of these minutes. S.,,,..r; . <br /> <br />Mayor Allen reported he had received a letter from Mrs. T. D. <br />McCaughan regarding delinquent taxes owed on the property taken for the <br />new Federal building. The Council. asked Mr. Fuller to advise Mrs. <br />McCaughan by letter why the taxes are due and payable. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Hillburn moved the Council approve the installation of <br />street lights at the following locations: <br /> <br />Lucio ::>treet <br />Lucio ::itreet <br />Lucio Street <br /> <br />Love :itreet <br />Grove Street <br />Mariposa Street <br />
