The City Manager <br />explained what was required, in his opinion, to remedy the situation. <br />The Council concurred in the City Manager's recommendations and <br />directed that a letter be written to the General Services Adminis- <br />tration requesting that action be initiated to correct the situation, <br /> <br />A request from the San Marcos Archery Association that the <br />City assist in cleaning the grounds was referred to the City Manager <br />to make an inspection and take such action as he deemed appropriate. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The matter of an unequal assessment on the property of <br />Mr. H. A. HOlmstrom, 826 Burleson, was considered by the Council. It <br />was the unanimous decision that no action could be taken to change <br />the present 1960 assessment fixed by the Tax Roll. The Tax Assessor- <br />Collector was directed to bring this matter to the attention of the <br />1961 Board of Equalization with instructions that the property in <br />that area be equalized. <br /> <br />The valuation placed on the Gregorio MIRANDA property, Pt, <br />Lot 7, Katy Addition, and on which a tax suit is pending, was con- <br />sidered by the Council. No action was taken until the Council could <br />go in a group and personally view the property. The matter is to be <br />decided at a later date, ,-/ <br /> <br />A request from the Cameron Lumber Company that the City <br />extend a sewer line 145 feet across South Austin Street so that they <br />could connect was deferred with no action taken. <br /> <br />A request from Mr. Sam Bowers, 448 West Holland Street, <br />that the City remove the garbage collection charge from his bill <br />becau?e he did not use the service was denied. The City Council <br />decided against deviation from the ordinance and established policy. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />After considerable discussion on the need for the old post <br />office building, Alderman Korff made a motion that a bid of $1,000.00 <br />be submitted and a check in the amount of $100.00 be forwarded with <br />the bid. This motion was seconded by Alderman Beecroft and carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on the need for additional cast <br />iron water pipe to complete the projects which had been promised by <br />the Council. The City Manager was authorized to take informal bids <br />and accept the low bid on two cars (or more as needed) of pipe to <br />complete the approved projects. <br /> <br />The matter of ambulance service calls by the Police Depart- <br />ment was discussed. Several of the aldermen reported on having been <br />contacted by Mr. Kenneth Weatherford that he was not receiving every <br />other call as was the present policy of the City when it is requested <br />to furnish ambulance service, Alderman Beecroft made a motion that <br />the calls be rotated on a monthly basis and that a fair selection be <br />made for the service for the month of March. This motion was seconded <br />by Alderman Tuttle and carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on the possibility of opening <br />Liveoak Street through and connecting with Academy and Alamo Streets. <br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion that the street be opened provided <br />the right-of-way was donated and did not have to be purchased. This <br />motion was seconded by Alderman Korff and carried unanimously, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council requested a report on the opening of the road <br />to the Hospital and the entrance road to the San Marcos Academy. Both <br />matters were reported on favorably by the City Manager. <br />
