<br />.~ <br /> <br />~ <br />::0 <br />~ <br />L""J <br />~ <br /> <br />Alderman Sutton moved that the report be accepted and adopted and that calls <br />among the three establishments (Penningtons, Los Angeles and Weatherford's) <br />be rotated on a monthly basis and that the City Manager so notify the Police <br />Department and the three establishments. This motion was seconded by Alder- <br />man Korff and carried ~naminously. <br /> <br />Mr. R. L. Bunting, a real estate dealer representing Mr. Gene Scrutchin <br />a property owner, reported to the Council that Mr. Dave Miller of San Antonio <br />Was interested in developing Mr. Scrutchin' s 357 acre tract on the San Marcos I <br />River, some .9 mile from the Southeast city limit line, into a high-value <br />development. Mr. Bunting explained that Mr. Miller was interested in know- <br />ing if a) the City would extend water service to the proposed development, <br />or b) if not, would the City furnish him water at a wholesale rate and at <br />what cost. The matter was discussed with respect to possible conflict with <br />the existing sub-division ordinance and possible incorporation within the <br />city limits. After a lengthy discussion, it was the unaminous decision of <br />the Council that the City Manager meet with Mr. Miller and discuss the matter <br />and to refer it to the Council when the two parties had determined the needs, <br />etc., which Mr. Miller would have in such a venture. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the State Highway Department had <br />offered the City $2,900 for the 4.821 acres of land, required for the wide- <br />ning on Interstate 35, from the land at the sewage disposal plant, east of the <br />Highway. Alderman Hillburn introduced a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to <br />sign the necessary deed of conveyance of this land to the Texas Highway <br />Department for the purposes set forth. Alderman Korff seconded the motion <br />and upon roll call the Ayes and Nays were as followsl <br /> <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, RUiz, Sutton, Younger <br />Nays: None <br />Where upon Mayor Allen declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />~!r. George Bryant, Peques Street, had Gont~acted the City Manager <br />and reported that the small water line serv1ng the families in that area <br />needed replacing. It appeared that the line had been put in by private <br />means and had been in service for some time. By mutual consent, the Council <br />approved the installation of an adequate line, however, it is to be given <br />a low priority rating. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the Treasurer had resigned her <br />position with the City and recommended that the Council consider the appoint- <br />ment of Mrs. Kay Woerner as City Treasurer. Alderman Hillburn introduced <br />an ordinance entitled: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDI NG AN OADI NANCE ADOPTED APRIL 5, 1 961 <br />APPOINTING CERTAINCITY OFFICIALS <br /> <br />and moved its adoption. The ordinance was read in full and Alderman Sutton <br />seconded the motion of adoption. Upon roll call the ayes and nays were: <br /> <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton and Younger <br />Nays: None <br />Alderman Korff excused himself from the meeting in order to make <br />a dental appointment. <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance passed, approved and adopted. <br /> <br />The President of the Volunteer Fire Department had presented a <br />requisition for certain necessary equipment in the amount of $1,340. The <br />City Manager explained that there was $2,000 in the current budget for <br />capital items in the Fire Department. Alderman Sutton moved that the follow- <br />ing items be purchased: 5 r 1 I 'r lights; 24 fire helmets; 400 ft. 2.l-" <br />hose; 200 ft. l~" hose; and, 2 gated suction valves. The matter of a new car <br />for the Chief to be considered at a later date and the installation of alert- <br />monitors in the houses of key firemen be referred to the City Manager to be <br /> <br />I <br />
