A () amount spent on improvements. This motion was seconded by Alderman rtuiz and carried unaminously. Mayor Allen asked to be excused from the meeting because of weakness due to a recent operation. The Council approved his absence from the remainder of the meeting. I The City Council authorized on motion by Alderman Younger, seconded by Alderman Sutton the improvements by blading and shaping Allen Street from Prospect Street to Advance Street provided a 50 foot ROW was acquired. The motion was seconded by Alderman Sutton and carried unaminously. Alderman Younger suggested that the people living in the area Northeast of Felmont Street and Southeast of Marlton Street be invited to come into the city limits. This motion was seconded by Alderman Sutton and carried. Alderman Sutton made a motion that Mayor Pro-Tempore Hillburn be relieved from office and that Alderman J. E. Younger, Jr. be made Mayor pro-tempore. There was considerable discussion and the motion was finally seconded by Alderman Ruiz. The City Manager was requested to read the pertinent statute regarding the election and term of office fo the mayor pro-tem. The motion was to be referred to the City Attorney for his legal opinion. The Mayor Pro-Tempore put the question to a vote with the ayes and nays as followsl AYES: Ruiz and Sutton NAYS: None Abstaining: Hillburn, Korff, and Younger I Whereupon the Mayor Pro-Tem declared the motion be turned over to the City Attorney for his ruling as to its effectivemess. The matter of the teachers at the Campus Elementary School receiving special parking privileges on Roanoke Street was discussed. No final action was taken.
