<br />A <br />() <br /> <br />amount spent on improvements. This motion was seconded by Alderman <br />rtuiz and carried unaminously. <br /> <br />Mayor Allen asked to be excused from the meeting because <br />of weakness due to a recent operation. The Council approved his <br />absence from the remainder of the meeting. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Council authorized on motion by Alderman Younger, <br />seconded by Alderman Sutton the improvements by blading and shaping <br />Allen Street from Prospect Street to Advance Street provided a 50 <br />foot ROW was acquired. The motion was seconded by Alderman Sutton <br />and carried unaminously. <br /> <br />Alderman Younger suggested that the people living in the <br />area Northeast of Felmont Street and Southeast of Marlton Street be <br />invited to come into the city limits. This motion was seconded by <br />Alderman Sutton and carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Sutton made a motion that Mayor Pro-Tempore <br />Hillburn be relieved from office and that Alderman J. E. Younger, Jr. <br />be made Mayor pro-tempore. There was considerable discussion and <br />the motion was finally seconded by Alderman Ruiz. The City Manager <br />was requested to read the pertinent statute regarding the election and <br />term of office fo the mayor pro-tem. The motion was to be referred <br />to the City Attorney for his legal opinion. The Mayor Pro-Tempore <br />put the question to a vote with the ayes and nays as followsl <br /> <br />AYES: Ruiz and Sutton <br /> <br />NAYS: None <br /> <br />Abstaining: Hillburn, Korff, and Younger <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor Pro-Tem declared the motion be turned over to <br />the City Attorney for his ruling as to its effectivemess. <br /> <br />The matter of the teachers at the Campus Elementary School <br />receiving special parking privileges on Roanoke Street was discussed. <br />No final action was taken. <br /> <br />The meeting on motion adjourned at 11:05 AM. .
