<br />troy all dogs that have not been redeemed or sold. end to perform .uoh other
<br />duties as may be directed by the City Manager under the terms of this Ordinance.

<br />Section 7. REPORTS. It shall Qe,the duty of the Pound Master to
<br />report in wri tin9 to the City, Manager once each month the total number of dogs
<br />impounded. the total numher o't dogs..redeemed or ,sold. and the total number of
<br />dogs, killed under the provisions of t,his Ordinance.

<br />Section 8. POUND FEES.. There shall becha~ged a pound fee of ONE
<br />DOLLAR nil.OO) forc:each and every dog, impounded under the provisions of this
<br />Ordinance and 'an' addi tional fee .of ONE DOLLAR ($1. 00) per day for each day
<br />or fraction trereof such,dog shall ~ema~n in sai& pound.

<br />Seetion 9. REDEMPTION OF IMPOUNDED DOGS. The owner or keeper of
<br />any dog or dogs captured or impounded under the provisions of this Ordinance
<br />shall be pe.rmitted and allowed, to redeem,recla:bm, and receive possession of said
<br />dog or dogs within seventy-two (72) hours after said dogsor dogs have been
<br />impounded, upon payment to the city, of San Marcos of the'pound fees as provided
<br />in Sectipn 8 of,this .ordinance.. and in,~d\lition thereto, the payme:llt'of the
<br />,license fee as provided in Section 1 of this Ordinance if said dogs have not
<br />,be!!n previously licensed for:, the current year.

<br />Section 10. DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED.. DOGS. Should the o\Wer or
<br />keeper of any impounded dog or dogs fail to redeem same as provided in Section
<br />9 of this Ordinance within the seventy-two ('72) hours provided, then said dog
<br />or dogs shall be distroyed in a manner approv~d by the American Humane,Society.

<br />tion of any dog under provisions hereof, the City of San Marcos may sell any dog
<br />so imP9unded tp first person tenderingto tbe City the pound fees a~d license fees
<br />provided for in this ordinance.

<br />Section ll. VICIOUS DOGS. It,shall be unlawful:for any owner or person
<br />,in control of any vicious or dangerous dog to keep or,pe~it the same in or about
<br />any publie house. public place, street, or alley in the City of ,San Marcos.

<br />Sectionc12. UNLAWFUL TO REMOVE LICENSE TAG. It shall be unlawful
<br />for any person to willfully take or remove from,any dog a collar or tag.

<br />, ' Sectioll 13. RESTRAIN~NG,FEMALE DOGS DURING O\'blLATION. Itfshall be
<br />unlawful 'for any female dog, whether licensed or not, to:run at large on the
<br />streets of San Marcos duringcsaid,dog~ 'B.~~rlrgn period ~nd any sucb dog
<br />that shall be found running at large during such period shall be placed
<br />in the ,City D09~ound by the Pound Master or his duly authorized represen-
<br />tative; provided; however, that the owner or keeper of said dog may reclaim
<br />same at anytime hy paying an impounding feecof ONE DOHAR ($1.00) 'plus a fee
<br />of ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) for eachcday or portion thereof said~og is kept in the
<br />City Dog Pound j providing, further, that in event said 'dog shall not be claimed
<br />and above fees paid. that said dog shall be disposed of as provide& in Section
<br />lQ herein.

<br />Section 14. "DUMPING" OF DOGS WITHIN CITY LIMITS PROHIBITED. it
<br />shall be unlawful Jor any person or persons eto' "dump." or 'leave unattended for
<br />an unreasonable period of time anY..d09 or dogs wi thin the city limits of San
<br />Marcos.

<br />Section 15 CONFINEMENI OF DOOS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS. If any
<br />dog, whether vaccinated, or not, shall ,have bitten, 'scratched or otherwise
<br />attacked any person, the owner of such dog, or any person having knOWledge
<br />of the incident, shall immediately notify the Health Officer and Pound Master I
<br />and the dog shall be confined in the Cii~s Dogl'ound, or ata veterinary hos-
<br />pital for a period of twenty-one '(21) days at the expense of the owner or
<br />keeper of the dog. This tim~ limit may be reduced only by the joint written
<br />ilPp..roval of the city Health Officer, and the City Vete.rinarian. burt, in no
<br />instance shall it he less than ten (lO) consecutive days, not lncludin~the
<br />d~YYof impoundment. No dog held for observation shall be rele~sed without the
<br />written permission of the Health Officer or his authorized representative.
<br />Any dog suffering from the bite of a rabid animal sh,all be,.quarantined in a
<br />veterinary hospital, the expense of the same to be paid, by ,the a.mer) or keeper
<br />of the dog. for a period of six (6) months. Under no circumstances shallttne
<br />dog so quarantined be released to the owner or keeper nor the dog be :allowed
<br />to remain on the premises of the owner or keeper. It shall he the duty of all
