<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />L_ _ <br /> <br />( ):~ <br />.f'" 1 J <br /> <br />~-, <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING r HE CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />PLANNING COMMISSION; PRESCRIBING QUALIFICATIONS <br />OF ITS MEMBERS AND THEIR TERM OF OFFICE; PROVIDING <br />FOR APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS AND FILLING VACANCIES; <br />MAKING DEPARTMENT HEADS AND OFFICIALS AVAILABLE TO <br />PLANNING COMMISSION; PRESCRIBING DUTIES OF THE CITY <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF <br />RULES AND REGULATIONS AND BYLAWS; REPEALING OFALL <br />ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT OR <br />CONTRARY HERETO; AND, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS <br /> <br />SECTION There is hereby created and established in the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, a City Planning Commission which shall be subject to the juris- <br />diction of the San Marcos City Council. The Plonning Commission shall consist <br />of seven (7) members whose officers are hereby created and established. The <br />members shall be resident citizens, owners of .real property in the city, taxpayers <br />and qualified voters in the City of San Marcos, Texas. The members of the <br />Planning Commission shall be appointed by the City Council. The term of office <br />of said Commission shall be five (5) years. All vacancies occuring in the Plan- <br />ning Commission shall be filled by the Council. The members of the City Plan- <br />ning Comission shall receive no compensation for their services, except as may be <br />authorized by the City Council. <br /> <br />SECTION II At the first meeting of the Planning Commission, such appoin- <br />ted members shall draw by lots to determine which two shall serve one year, <br />which two shall serve two years, and which three shall serve three years. The <br />members shall elect from their own number, a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman <br />to preside at all meetings, and a Secretary for keeping of a true record of all <br />matters coming before the Commission. <br /> <br />SECTION III All Department heads and officials of the City of San Marcos <br />shall be available to the City Planning Commission for advice and consultation at <br />all times. They shall cooperate with and render such services to the Planning <br />Commission as shall come within the scope of the duties of the department head <br />and/or official. Any department head or official shall attend meetings of the <br />City Planning Commission upon the request of the Commission or its duly author- <br />ized representative. <br /> <br />SECTION IV The City Planning Commission shall recommend to the City <br />Manager the creation of such positions as it may deem necessary for the proper <br />conduct, operation and undertaking of the Planning Commission, including, from <br />time to time as it may find it necessary, the employment of technical assistance, <br />recognized in the field of municipal planning and zoning. Such appointments <br />will be made by the City Manager, subject to the approval of the Council. <br />Any technical consultant shall perform such duties as requested by the Planning <br />Commission, subject to the approval of the City Manager. He shall receive com- <br />pensation for his services as fixed by the City Council. <br /> <br />~ <br />
