Alderman Swift moved that the Recreation Council be <br />increased by two members, and names submitted by the Recreation <br />Council for approval by the City Council. Alderman Ruiz seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that Tex Hughson would like to petition <br />annexation of the property on which his slaughter house is located, <br />in order to comply with a State law that such plants must be inspected <br />by a City meat inspector. The state Highway Department has been <br />requested to petition the annexation of a portion of RM 12 extending <br />to the Hughson Meat Company property. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the Planning Commission had conSidered <br />a comprehensive zoning map and minimum housing code at its April 15th <br />meeting. Further study will be made before the Commission makes a <br />recommendation to the City Council. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that a rough draft of the 1963-1964 budget <br />is being submitted to Ernst & Ernst to be sure it conforms to the <br />format recommended by the firm of auditors recently engaged by the <br />City. It is expected it will be ready for presentation tp the Council <br />at the next adjourned meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter received from Sociedad Cuauhtemoc <br />requesting Council approval of the issuance of dance permits during <br />the season. Alderman Stokes moved that the matter be tabled until a <br />check could be made with Chief of Police Dial. Dr. Moore seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported he had received a letter from Mr. Brod of I <br />Rio Vista Park requesting the use of the City dredging equipment to <br />clean its portion of the San Marcos River. He explained that there <br />is no commercial dredging firm in San Marcos and that in other years <br />the Council had approved use of the equipment, at a specified hourly <br />rental. Alderman Stokes moved that the City Manager be authorized <br />to use City equipment and personnel to dredge the River for private <br />owners, as long as there is no commercial firm in that business in <br />San Marcos, at a charge commensurate with the City's investment. <br />Alderman Pool seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Alderman Stokes moved that the 26 items proposed for priority <br />consideration at the April 9 meeting, and tabled until the April 16 <br />meeting, be p.esented for cbnsideration. Alderman Swift seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. The Mayor suggested that they <br />omit discussion on amy item that would be included in the proposed <br />budget, in order not to duplicate discussion. Alderman Swift request- <br />ed "personal privelege" in withdrawing from discussion of Item One, <br />on the grounds of conflict of interest. A list of the 26 items as <br />presented by Alderman Swift at the April 9 meeting is attached as <br />part of the Minutes.
