Alderman Swift presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "WHEREAS, the San Marcos Independent School District is the owner of a tract of land lying between the San Marcos River and State Highway Loop 82; and, I "WHEREAS, the said tract of land is under lease presently to S#fSC for use as an athletic and band drill field; and, "WHEREAS, the said tract of land is now especially suited to use as a public recreational area because of its proximity to the San Marcos River, and a main entrance route to the City of San Marcos; and, "WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is in need of a public recreational area on the headwaters of the San Marcos River; and, "WHEREAS, the said tract of land is the only land available for said use; and, "WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos owns several tracts of land equally suited to the present use being made of said tract of land; "NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos as follows, to-wit: "(1) That the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos respectfully request, by a copy of the Resolution, that the San Marcos Independent School District lease the said tract of land to the City of San Marcos for a long term of years; and, I "(2) That the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos respectfully request, by a copy of the Resolution, that swrsc release any claim to the use of said tract of land; and, "(3) That the City of San Marcos lease an adequate and simi- lar tract of land to the San Marcos Independent School District for the joint use of the San Marcos Independent School District and swrsc for a term of years equal to the lease requested in #1 above; and, "(4) Contingent upon favorable action on the three preceding sections of this Resolution, the City of San Marcos appropriate $1,000.00 for development of the said tract of land as a City park'l. Alderman Stokes moved that the Resolution be tabled. Alderman Moore seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Moore, Stokes NAY: Pool, Ruiz, Swift I Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion for tabling had failed. The question being called for on adoption of the Resolution, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Ruiz, Swift NAY: Moore, Pool, Stokes
