<br />~ <br /> <br />, <br />~b <br /> <br />I <br />l (<.,.. <br />1IIrrr......~..; '" ~ ,-:,.~ <br /> <br />regular meeting, may 14, 1963 page four <br /> <br />AYE: Pool, Ruiz, Stokes, Swift <br />NAY: Moore <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Swift presented the following Resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the San Marcos Independent School District is the <br />owner of a tract of land lying between the San Marcos River <br />and State Highway Loop 82; and, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the said tract of land is under lease presently to <br />S#fSC for use as an athletic and band drill field; and, <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the said tract of land is now especially suited to <br />use as a public recreational area because of its proximity <br />to the San Marcos River, and a main entrance route to the <br />City of San Marcos; and, <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is in need of a public <br />recreational area on the headwaters of the San Marcos River; and, <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the said tract of land is the only land available for <br />said use; and, <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos owns several tracts of land <br />equally suited to the present use being made of said tract <br />of land; <br /> <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the <br />City of San Marcos as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />"(1) That the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos <br />respectfully request, by a copy of the Resolution, that <br />the San Marcos Independent School District lease the said <br />tract of land to the City of San Marcos for a long term <br />of years; and, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"(2) That the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos <br />respectfully request, by a copy of the Resolution, that <br />swrsc release any claim to the use of said tract of land; and, <br /> <br />"(3) That the City of San Marcos lease an adequate and simi- <br />lar tract of land to the San Marcos Independent School District <br />for the joint use of the San Marcos Independent School District <br />and swrsc for a term of years equal to the lease requested in <br />#1 above; and, <br /> <br />"(4) Contingent upon favorable action on the three preceding <br />sections of this Resolution, the City of San Marcos appropriate <br />$1,000.00 for development of the said tract of land as a City <br />park'l. <br /> <br />Alderman Stokes moved that the Resolution be tabled. Alderman Moore <br />seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Moore, Stokes <br />NAY: Pool, Ruiz, Swift <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor declared the motion for tabling had failed. <br /> <br />The question being called for on adoption of the Resolution, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Ruiz, Swift <br />NAY: Moore, Pool, Stokes <br />
