regular meeting, june 8, 1964, page three

0/

was discussed at length. It was recalled that an ordinance regulating
the operation of billiard tables fOr profit had been considered by the
Council earlier this year; and that an ordinance prohibiting the oper-
ation,~.of billiard tables for profit in San Marcos had been presented
to the Council for consideration, and had failed to be approved. The
City Manager was instructed to ask the City Attorney whether Mr. Kyle
could be denied a permit under the existing conditions. It was the
opncensus of the Council that a regulatory ordinance for the operation
of billiard tables for profit in San Marcos should be prepared for
consideration of the Council.

I

The City Manager presented the Council with a report from the Interim
Library Committee. The Mayor read aloud a letter signed by Mrs. Tom
Oliver, President of the San Marcos Library Board, and Mrs. Ira Bowles,
President of the Friends of the San Marcos Library and Chairman of the
Interim Committee. The Committee recommended the appointment by ordinance
of a seven-member board to administer the Library under a new plan of
operation, and suggested twelve names of eligible persons for appointment.
The report and recommendations were discussed, and by general agreement,
it was decided to take the matter and the suggested names under advisement.
It was agreed the board would be appointed before July.

The City Manager, in Item # 6, brought to the attention of the Council
the need for an ordinance "reqUiring that all dwellings moved to a locat-
ion within the jurisdiction of tha City be made to conform with the mini-
mum housing code, and not moved to a location where it will lower the
value of the adjacent property". It was agreed by common consent that the
City Manager shOUld prepare such an ordinance for consideration of the
Council.

The City Manager presented to the Council a map showing recommended
stop signs in San Marcos. It was referred to the newly created
Traffic Commission.

I

A tabulation on bids from local car dealers for purchase of a police
vehicle was furnished the Council. The City Manager recommended that
the low bid from Jack Hughes be accepted, and the remainder of the bids
be tabled for further study. Alderman Tuttle moved that the Jack Hughes
MotOrs' low bid for a Ford Custom Fordor @ $1,916.91 be accepted.
Alderman Pool seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Alderman
Ruiz asked the City Manager how soon information on leasing vehicles
could be obtained, and Mr. Fuller replied, "Right away".

On motion of Alderman Pool, and by common
at 9110 p.m., to reconvene at the call of

-I ' -:7-----: r<:',
..--i-fA .. ..fi.; /;'tlrlt-"--L-
,_~~,I./ ,,,.-r__,''l-~r.''->~-'M / r v
Frank Taylor
Mayor

consent, the Council

the Ma()ori.~ /J
/ ~Ir;
rJ:1..(uF[J{J;;vt;;:
Ruoen =~)-
-- )
Alderrit~

adjourned

. \
1/ () )'.. -'\' /\
\.L.x__ --LP_J: f_---17-I/t.A....~J..:..____~
Willi am- C.
