Se~u~ and me one.u M~. Taylo~ held up the Aug. 21 issue <br />of "EI Repo~te~o" and asked M~. Mo~ales if he had w~itten it. <br />M~, Morales replied in the affirmative. The City Manage~ was <br />~ecogn i zed. He stated that '!C i ty Manage~" had been added in <br />ink to the add~essees, obviously as an after-thought. The <br />second question Alde~man Ruiz put to M~. Morales was: "Who is <br />the 'ruling clan' refe~~ed to in the pamphlet? Give me thei~ <br />names". M~. Mo~ales said that he could discuss only the two <br />accusations he had made against Judge Sutton: "I ~ake it the <br />Mayo~ is in cha~ge and that is what he said". M~. Ruiz point- <br />ed out that as a membe~ of the Council he was entitled to ask <br />questions at the hea~ing; that he felt the people of San Marcos <br />are entitled to know who "the ruling clan" in the City are. <br />He repeated his question: "Give me thei~ names". Mr. Morales <br />~efused to answer. Alde~man Whittenberg moved that discussion <br />of the matte~ cease, and that the decision of the Council, as <br />stated by the Mayor, be made a pa~t of the record. Alde~man <br />Se~ur seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following <br />vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE; Pool, Ruiz, Serur, Whittenbe~g <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayo~ decla~ed the motion carried, and the hea~ing closed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alde~man Pool introduced a Resolution and moved its approval. <br />The Resolution, p~oviding for the name of t~e Equal Opportun- <br />ities Committee to be changed to 'Community Relations Se~vice', <br />was read in full and discussed. A copy is attached herewith <br />as a part of the Minutes.
