RESOLUTION OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING UNDERTAKING OF A GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PLAN AND FILING OF APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ADVANCE OF FUNDS. I WHEREAS, under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended, the Housing and Home Finance Administrator is authorized to extend financial assistance to localities in the elimination and prevention of the spread of slums and urban blight through the planning and under- taking of urban renewal projects; and, WHEREAS, under Section 102(d) of said Title I, the Housing and Home Finance Administrator may make advances of funds for the pre- paration of General Neighborhood Renewal Plans for urban renewal areas of such scope that the urban renewal activities therein may have to be carried out in stages over a period of not more than 10 years; and, WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the Local Public Agency prepare such a General Neighborhood Renewal Plan, presently estimated to cost $ 63,372.00 in that certain area, proposed as an Urban Renewal Area, situated in the City of San Marcos, County of Hays, State of Texas, and described as follows: Bounded on the North by Colorado, San Antonio & Farist Streets; on the West by Wilson Street, the West City Limit Line and the West line of the Aliseo Guerrero Subdivision; on the South by Interstate 35; and, on the East by the Rio Vista Subdivision and the San Marcos River. I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY of the City of San Marcos, Texas: 1. That the proposed Urban Renewal Area described above is an area of such scope that it is estimated that the urban renewal activities therein may have to be carried out in stages over a period of not more than 10 years. 2. That the undertaking by the Local Public Agency of the preparation of a General Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the proposed Urban Renewal Area described above is hereby approved. 3. That it is cognizant of the intention of the Local Public Agency to undertake an urban renewal project promptly upon completion of the General Neighborhood Renewal Plan and the preparation of an urban renewal plan for such project, which project shall embrace at least 10 percent of the proposed Urban Renewal Area and shall be of the character contemplated by Section 11 0 (c) of Title I. I 4. That it is cognizant of the conditions that are imposed in the undertaking and carrying out of the urban renewal projects with Federal financial assistance under Title I, including those relating to (a) a feasible method of relocation; (b) the provision of necessary local grants-in-aid; and (c) the prohibition of discrimination because of race, color, creed, or national origin ..~ I =C ~ ~ ~\.
