The City <br />Manager recommended that the petition be received <br />"for annexation ,at such time as it becomes contig- <br />uous to the City Limits". The matter was thorough- <br />ly discussed. Alderman Whittenberg moved that the <br />annexation petition be accepted, to be held in read- <br />iness when the property qualifies for annexation. <br />Alder~an Pool seconded the motion and on rol I cal I, <br />the fo II ow i ng vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented for Counci I approval <br />a proposed appl ication for a Federal Neighborhood <br />Youth Corps program, as provided by Title I of the <br />Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. Appl ication was <br />for approximately $14,800.00 in Federal funds to <br />oro~loy 20 young men and four young women between,the <br />ages of 16 and 21, for conservat i on and off ice work <br />for a period of 12 weeks. The City Manager explain'- <br />ed how the program wi I I be handled. Federal funds <br />wi II be used for 90% of the cost, the City's 10% <br />to be furnished "in kind". Alderman Whittenberg <br />moved that the Counc; I approve the appl ication. <br />Alderman Pool seconded the motion and on rol I cal I, <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Pool, Tuttle, ~hittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />A I derman Poo I introduced a Reso I ut i on and moved its <br />approval. The Resolution,which was read in full and <br />is attached as a part of the Minutes, authorized and <br />empowered City Manager B.R. Fuller to make application <br />to Federal Aviation Agency, Office of Economic Oppor- <br />tunity, General Services Administration, or other ap- <br />propriate Federal agency for al I suitable air faci li- <br />ties declared surplus at Camp Gary. Alderman Whitten- <br />berg seconded the motion and on rol I call, the follow- <br />ing vot~ was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried, and the <br />Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor brought before the Counci I a request for <br />a franchise to operate a taxicab company in San Marcos, <br />signed by Cornelio Alvarado. He requested the City <br />Secretary to read the letter aloud. Counci Imen dis- <br />cussed the appl ication in reference to the City's' <br />Taxicab Ordinance. Alderman Damon moved that the <br />application for franchise be approved by the Council, <br />provided the appl icant complies with provisions of <br />the Taxicab Ordinance.
