C. Eugene Jennings <br />being present, the Mayor asked for his comment. Father <br />Jennings indicated he would confer personally with the <br />State Insurance Board Enginee~ for a possible solution <br />to the problem. <br /> <br />The Mayor recal led to the Counci I the offer made some <br />time ago by MI'. H.E. Butt of a $10,000.00 gift from the <br />Butt Foundation for a public swimming pool in San Marcos. <br />At the time, the Counci I was not able to meet the stipu- <br />lations of the gift, and the offer was withdrawn. The <br />Mayor said Mr. Butt had again offered a $10,000.00 grant <br />to assist in the bui Iding of a public swimming pool. The <br />matter was discussed at length. Alderman Pool moved the <br />Counci I accept MI'. Butt's offer, if finances Can be work- <br />ed satisfactoriJy. The City Manager requested approval of purchase <br />of additional right-of-way so the street may be widened <br />and two-way traffic initiated. Alderman Froh moved that <br />the City Manager be authorized to purchase right-of-way <br />to widen Thorp Lane to the standard 60-ft. width.
