I The Mayor referred to a letter received by Mrs, Laura Ramsay of Ramsay Insurance Agency, from the State Board of Insurance, in regard to perm i tt i ng a sh i ngl e roof on the proposed new St. Mark's Church, see copy attached. The Rector of St. Mark's, the Rev. C. Eugene Jennings being present, the Mayor asked for his comment. Father Jennings indicated he would confer personally with the State Insurance Board Enginee~ for a possible solution to the problem. The Mayor recal led to the Counci I the offer made some time ago by MI'. H.E. Butt of a $10,000.00 gift from the Butt Foundation for a public swimming pool in San Marcos. At the time, the Counci I was not able to meet the stipu- lations of the gift, and the offer was withdrawn. The Mayor said Mr. Butt had again offered a $10,000.00 grant to assist in the bui Iding of a public swimming pool. The matter was discussed at length. Alderman Pool moved the Counci I accept MI'. Butt's offer, if finances Can be work- ed satisfactoriJy. AJderman Damon seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: I AYE: NAY: Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. The Mayor announced that Thorp Lane was open as a one-way street. The City Manager requested approval of purchase of additional right-of-way so the street may be widened and two-way traffic initiated. Alderman Froh moved that the City Manager be authorized to purchase right-of-way to widen Thorp Lane to the standard 60-ft. width. The Mayor read aloud a letter from L.W. Waters, thanking the Counci I for paving Smith Lane. I Alderman Froh, recognized by the Mayor read the fol lowing statement and Resolution: HAt this time I would like to propose a Resolution to this Counci I.
