65 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />May 26, 1981 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />The 1981 Board of Equalization members are Sammie L. C. Hardeman, <br />Betty Wolverton, Terry Lighthouse, Steve Foster and Margaret Her- <br />nandez. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration four nominees for the Environ- <br />mental Advisory Board. The Council needs four nominees, three to <br />fill the expiring terms in 1981 and one to fill a vacancy that will <br />expire in 1982. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Brown, Cavazos, James, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br /> <br />NAY: Norris. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br /> <br />Carol Grimm, Harvey Ginsburg and Bill Pryatel will fill the 1981 <br />expiring terms and Stephanie Langenkamp will fill the vacancy which <br />will expire in 1982. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration three nominees for the Ethics <br />Review Committee to replace John Kreczmer's vacancy whose term expires <br />in 1982. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />1. Dr. Martin Juel - Brown, James and Kreczmer. <br />2. Gloria Salazar - Cavazos and Mendez. <br />3. Hazel Duncan - Norris. <br /> <br />Since no nominee received four votes, Mr. James called for a second <br />vote and indicated if no nominee received four votes, the matter <br />would be tabled until the June 8 Council Meeting. On second vote, <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />1. Dr. Martin Juel - Brown, James, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br />2. Gloria Salazar - Cavazos and Norris. <br />3. Hazel Duncan - None. <br /> <br />Dr. Martin Juel received the four votes necessary to fill the vacancy <br />of Mr. Kreczmer on the Ethics Review Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration Nominee Geneva Gomez to fill <br />the 1982 unexpired vacancy on the Fair Housing Commission. Mr. <br />James moved for Geneva Gomez to fill this position and Mrs. Norris <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration Nominee Helen Franks to fill <br />the 1983 unexpired vacancy created by the death of Claudius Armstead <br />for the Senior Citizens Advisory Board. By unanimous vote of Council, <br />Helen Franks will fill the ~vacancy. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration Nominees Nina Pryatel and <br />Richard Cruz to fill the vacancy of Celestino Mendez on the Master <br />Plan Committee. On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />1. Nominee Nina Pryatel - Brown and Kreczmer. <br />2. Nominee Richard Cruz - Cavazos, James, Norris and <br /> Mendez. <br /> <br />Richard Cruz will fill the vacancy on the Master Plan Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. James introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on <br />first reading on the annexation of 7 acres out of J. M. Veramendi <br />League No. 2, read in its entirety, the caption which follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS ANNEXING TO SAID CITY A CONTIGUOUS <br />TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY 7 ACRES, <br />MORE OR LESS, LOCATED WITHIN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL <br />JURISDICTION OF SAID CITY AND LYING ADJACENT TO <br /> <br /> <br />
