Alderman Tuttle seconded the motion <br />and on rol I call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and <br />Adopted. It is made a part of the Minutes. <br /> <br />The Mayor signed the Order for City Officers' Election, <br />naming the Judges and Alternate Judges in the five precincts. <br />The Order is made a part of the Minutes. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a recommendation from the Plann- <br />ing and Zoning Commission on annexation of the Clapp property, <br />adjacent to Forest Hi lis. It was recommended the property <br />be annexed, provided Dr, Rush deed a 50-ft. roadway to the <br />City. I t was agreed by common consent, on mot i on of Dr. Poo I , <br />that the petition receive favorable consideration, with the <br />provision of guarantee of the 50-ft. roadway. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported to the Counci I that at a recent <br />public hearing set by the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />on a re=zoning request, 20% of the owners of adjoining <br />property appeared in .protest to a possible change in zoning <br />from "R", residential, to "0", multi-fami Iy. The Counci I is <br />required under provision of the Zoning Ordinance, to set a <br />public hearing and make final judgement on the request and <br />protest. I t Was agreed by common consent to ho I d the hear i ng <br />Tuesday, March I, 1966, at 5:30 p.m., in the Counci I Room. <br /> <br />Alderman Pool introduced a Resolution authorizing the Mayor <br />to receive title to the "Airport Land" at Gary from the U.S. <br />Government, and moved its approval. Caption of the Resolution, <br />which is made a part of the Minutes, is as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE MAYOR <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND ATTESTATION BY THE <br />CITY SECRETARY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS OF AN IN- <br />DENTURE BY AND BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA <br />AND THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS IN WHICH THE UNITED STATES <br />OF AMERICA CONVEYS TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS THE REAL <br />PROPERTY KNOWN AS THE "AIRPORT LAND", TOGETHER WITH <br />CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS AND EASEMENTS AND THE USE RIGHTS <br />IN CONNECTION WITH SAID REAL PROPERTY, AND THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS COVENANTS TO ABIDE BY THE RESTRICTIONS AND <br />CONDITIONS OF GOVERNING THE USE OF SAID "AIRPORT LAND", <br />ALL AS SET OUT IN SAID INSTRUMENT <br /> <br />Alderman Damon seconded the motion and on roll cal I, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor commented that the City of San Marcos was receiv- <br />ing this valuable property at absolutely no cost. He stated <br />that, as with al I simi lar conveyances of government property, <br />should a national emergency occur, and the government have <br />need of the land and facilities, the City was obligated to <br /> <br />relinquish it.
