Mr. Wolff said the present pumps
were worh out and inadequate to handle the load, with
the result that raw sewage is flowing into the San Mar-
cos River. Alderman Tuttle moved that the new pump be
instal led. Alderman Pool seconded the motion. Alderman
Froh opened a disc~ssion on the original installation
at that point, and its inadequacy to serve a large numb-
er of residents on Chestnut Street and the general area
who have requested sewer connections. He questioned
whether the new pump would have to be replaced in eight
years, and stated the City required a master plan. The
City Manager said the necessity for a new pump was not
brought about by the proposed annexation on adjacent
property which would have to be served, but by the fact
that the pump was worn out.
