Alderman Damon moved that the <br />Advisory Board ask the Bishop to come back to the Coun- <br />ci f with a proposal. Alderman Whittenberg seconded the <br />motion. MI". Jay suggested the Counci I make a proposal <br />on the price to take to the Rishop: DA dol larto $50,000D. <br />Father Tl"evino said the church would like to have title <br />to the property, or they would face the bui Iding on <br />Riverside. DFacing it on Hopkins has only aesthetic valueD, <br />he said. Father Trevino also said if the land wel"e deeded <br />to the church, the Bishop would be wi I ling to agree that <br />it would never be sold fol" a shopping center. Alderman <br />Whittenberg said; "Are we talking about selling or~? <br />This land belongs to al I the people of San Marcos - there <br />are chul"ches hel"e that would be ~ to have that 3.62 acres <br />to bui Id a complete church on - this Counci I could never <br />~ any property". St. John's dele- <br />gation left the Counci I Room at 9:45 p.m. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a petition for annexation of prop- <br />erty belonging to J.M. Johnson. Counci Imen were shown <br />the location of the property on a plat. Alderman Pool <br />moved acceptance of the petition.
