<br />5.3 That all conductors in commercial buildings installed for light, heat and <br />power shall be of such size that the voltage drop under load in the furthest <br />outlet shall not exceed two per cent of the voltage supplied in the service en- <br />trance. No branch circuit or switch shall be installed with copper wire smaller <br />than #12 B&S Gauge and no #12 B&S Gauge branch circuit shall be protected by <br />fuse or breaker of greater capacity than twenty Amperes. No more than six out- <br />lets shall be installed on anyone circuit. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5.4 That service wires for commercial buildings will be in conduit. No <br />service conduit from point of service contact of buildings to meter connections <br />shall be concealed. Junctions or pull boxes shall not be installed in service <br />conduits. Provided further that service outlets shall be installed as directed <br />by a representative of the utility corporation providing such service, and only <br />one point of contact shall be made on any building. Such ~oint of contact shall <br />not be less than twelve feet above ground level. - <br /> <br />5.5That all co~~ercial cabinet and conduit installations shall be electric- <br />ally grounded with a ground wire in conduit. This wire (copper) will be <br />number 6 B&S and connected to approved ground rod five-eights inches in diameter <br />and eight feet long. Said ground wire shall be attached to ground rod with ap- <br />proved clamps. If the driving of a ground rod is not possible grounding means <br />will comply with NEC. <br /> <br />5.6 That all wiring for motors in any building within the City of San Mar- <br />cos where the motor is one-third horsepower or more shall in all cases be con- <br />tained and encased in metal conduit, tubing, or molding, Greenfield flexible <br />conduit not over thirty-six inches in length may be used to connect motor to <br />terminal box. All motors in excess of three horsepower will be started with ap- <br />propriate starting mechanism. <br /> <br />5.7 That all electric signs shall have independent feed lines run in con- <br />duit from the point of service and a single circuit shall not carry more than <br />fifteen Amperes. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5.8 That no main service for residential use shall be smaller than #6 B&S <br />Gauge wire (copper). SEA entrance cable may be used in lieu of conduit. No <br />service entrance from point of service contact of building to meter connection <br />shall be concealed. Junctions or pull boxes shall not be installed in the ser- <br />vice connection. Service outlets shall be installed as directed by a represen- <br />tative of the utility company providing service. The point of service contact <br />with the building shall not be less than twelve feet above ground. <br /> <br />5.9 ~hat such service entrance shall be grounded at the meter or service <br />switch. The ground wire shall be #6 enclosed in EMT and supported along its <br />entire length. The ground connection will be made with approved clamp to <br />an approved ground rod 5/8 inches in diameter and eight feet long. If the driving <br />of a ground rod is not possible grounding means will comply with NEC. <br /> <br />5.10 That all electric wiring in resi~ences will be at least #12 B&S Gauge <br />copper wire. <br /> <br />5.11 That all wlrlng for residential use (Single Family, Duplex, and Multi- <br />Family apartment) shall be governed by the Minimum Residential Wiring ReQuire- <br />ments. <br /> <br />5.12 That all rec eptacles shall be of grounding type. <br /> <br />5.13 That branch circuit wire for plug and light outlets shall be min. #12 <br />with ground. Aluminum romex shall be one size larger than copper. Ground shall <br />be run through all outlet s. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5.14 That there shall be no more than 4 outlets per circuit provided in the <br />kitchen. The refrigerator, dish washer, or garbage grinder shall not be on the <br />same circuit as the kitchen lights. <br /> <br />5.15 That there shall be one receptacle every 12' in each room measured <br />along the wall of each room. <br /> <br />~. <br />~~i <br /> <br />5.16 That no more than 8 outlets shall be installed per circuit. No more <br />than 6 of these outlets shall be plug outlets. <br /> <br />5.17 That electrical panels shall contain a minimum of 6 circuits. Over- <br />current protection may be by circuit breakers, type liS" fuses, or cartridge <br />fuses. Plug type fuses shall not be acceptable. <br />
