<br />1 <br /> <br />regular, meeting, may 23,1966 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />Alderman Whittenberg asked a question about <br />Section I, 1.8, regarding fees for electricians' <br />licenses. He said he felt it was excessive, es- <br />pecial Iy for a young man starting in business. <br />Dr. Pool asked if the new ordinance had been writ- <br />ten to bring San Marcos into line with other cities. <br />The City Manager said the fees,etc., were in line <br />with those in the surrounding towns. The ordinance <br />was discussed further. Alderman Korff moved adoption <br />of the Ordinance, attached as a part of the Minutes. <br />Alderman Froh seconded the motion and on rol I cal" <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br />ABSTA IN ING: <br /> <br />Froh, Korff, Pool <br />None <br />Whittenberg <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A FIRE PREVENTION CODE <br />PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING CONDITIONS <br />HAZARDOUS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE OR <br />EXPLOSION, AND ESTABLISHING A BUREAU OF FIRE <br />PREVENTION AND PROVIDING OFFICERS THEREFOR <br />AND DEFINING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES <br /> <br />The Mayor said this Ordinance complied with the <br />National Code. Alderman Pool moved adoption of the <br />Ordinance, attached as a part of the Minutes. Alder- <br />man Korff seconded the moiion and on rol I call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I,' <br /> <br />AYE: Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance and read the captipn: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE AND RESTRICT THE LOCATION <br />AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND; DECLAR- <br />ING THE PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR CHANGES AND AMEND- <br />MENTS; ESTABLISHING AN OFFICIAL ZONING MAP; ESTAB- <br />LISHING DEFINITIONS; DESIGNATINGDISTRICTS; PRO- <br />HIBITING USE; PROVIDING FOR NEWLY ESTABLISHEDTER- <br />ITORY; SETTING FORTH USE RESTRICTION IN THE SEVER- <br />AL DISTRICTS; ESTABLISHING LAND COVERAGE; PROVIDING <br />FOR PARKING; PROVIDING FOR SET-BACK; DEFINING NON- <br />CONFORMING USES; pROVIDING FOR A BOARD OF ADJUST- <br />MENT; PROVIDING ENFORCEMENTS AND REMEDIES; CLARIFY- <br />ING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING'FOR ~ SAVINGS <br />CLAUSE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager explained that when it was dedided that <br />an "R-2" (Duplex) classification should be provi~ed. in <br />the Zoning Ordinance currently in effect, it required <br />so many changes throughout that it was necessary to <br />rewrite the ordinance. The Amendments to the existing <br />Ordinance were included in the new one.
