<br />regu I ar meet i ng, october 10, 1966 <br /> <br />page three <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Pool read aloud a letter from Corporation Judge <br />Ben Copass in which he requested additions to the <br />I ist of corporation court fines, as adopted by ord- <br />i nance in February, 1966. A I derman Damon moved that <br />the Counci I authorize the City Attorney and City Man- <br />ager to prepare an g,mendment to the existing ordinance, <br />including the requested items. Alderman Korff seconded <br />the motion, and on roll cal I, the following vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Korff, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem declared the motion carried, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Pool read aloud a letter from Robert H. Green, of Marmon, <br />Mok U Green, Planners for the Urban Renewal Agency (LP~), ref- <br />erence an alternate route for the C.M~AI len Blvd. A plat <br />acc;mpanied the letter. Dr. Pool stated that consideration <br />of a bui Iding permit for Rodgers Storey at Colorado and Water <br />Streets was again before the Counc; I. Dr. Pool made reference <br />to a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Charles Abel I, protesting closing <br />of an unused City al ley abuting on their property on Union Street. <br />Copies of the two letters are attached as a part of the Minutes. <br />The City Manager drew the alternate ro~tes on the blackboard, <br />and the relative merits of each were discussed. The second route <br />prov ided for an "S" curve through a. port i on of the Amer i can Leg ion <br />property on the east. Representatives of the. American Legion and <br />Veterans of Foreign Wars appeared before the Counci I to protest <br />routing the boudevard through the Legion property. Those who <br />spoke to the question were Isaac Pinales, Kenneth Sutton and <br />David Da; ley. Alderman Whiitenberg made reference to the letter <br />from Mr. Green in which it was stated that a compromise position <br />had been cal I~d for. The Secretary was asked to read a portion <br />of the September 12 Minutes, in which the motion to accept Mr. <br />Storey's .compromise proposal" a~d grant him a bufldirig permit <br />for a service station at Colorado and Waters had been tabled. <br />There was further discussion. Alderman Whittenberg moved that <br />Mr. Storey be granted a permit. There was no second. <br />Alderman Froh introduced further discussion on the protest of <br />Mr. and Mrs. Abel lover vacating the al ley. He said he had been <br />cal led to th~ir home Sunday; he stated their side of the question, <br />emphasizing the fact that he had not made an investigation of the <br />legal aspects, but was simply repeating what they had told him. <br />After further discussion, Alderman Froh offered the fol lowing <br />motion: "I would like to see Mr. Storey gete a permit, provided <br />the Amer i can Leg i on and VFW I and n'ot be jeopard i zed" . Alderman <br />Whittenberg seconded the motion. The City Manager said:"1 would <br />advise the Counci I to consider closely their course of action". <br />After further discussion, the question being cal led for, the <br />following vote was recoreed: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Froh, Whittenberg <br />Damon, Korff <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem being required to break the\tie, voted "Aye" <br />and declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Froh brought two matters befo~~ the Council. He suggested <br />providing a slot in the door of the Utilities office, so that <br />patrons could pay their bi I Is after hours. The City Manager <br />said he would investigate the feasibi I ity of providing such a slot. <br />
