<br />I <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />I: <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Ii <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />1 <br />I, <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />.Page - 2 <br /> <br />Our Junlor Hlgh Sohool now has some 800 students enrolled and <br /> <br /> <br />at least two tlmes eaoh day, that belng early ln the IlIOrnlng and <br /> <br />agaln about 3:30 P.M., this area around the proposed slte ls <br /> <br />heavl1y oongested with foot traffio by ohlldren golng to and from <br /> <br />sohool, as well as, a oongested oar and bus traffio. We feel, <br /> <br />therefore, that lt ls a real and distlnot hazard to the students <br /> <br />should an alarm oome ln rlght at that tlme. All of us have been <br /> <br />kiddos and we all know that should an alarm come ln at the tlme <br /> <br />they are just gOlng to or gettlng out of sohool, that there would <br /> <br />be a fast "break" to the station to watoh the truoks oome out. <br /> <br />They would do this, regardless of how many lights or oaution <br />slgnals were placed to prevent this running toward the station. <br />At thls point, I would like to oommend thls oouncll for oonslder- <br />ing the economy angle ln thls matter by seleoting a site tWat was <br />a bit oheaper than two other sltes that were offered for consider- <br />ation BUT at the same time, how oan you put a price on a ohild's <br />life or a serious lnjury should he be hit by a pieoe of the <br />equipment ooming out of the station or by an onrushlng oar trYlng <br />to get out of the way of the equlpment or a oar brlnglng one of <br />our flne Volunteer flremen to the statlon? Besldes the 800 day <br />students that are enrolled at the sohool, there are also nlght <br />olasses belng held by our government and a survey by you would <br />oertainly indioate the oongestlon of parked oars around and near <br />the sohool.
