Ald~rman Pool moved the <br />Council authorize the Mayor to e~ecute the contract. lease. <br />Alderman Whittenberg seconded -the m'otion. Alderman Froh <br />enquired about the use of treated water on the course, <br />and asked whether the greens couldn't be sprinkled with <br />waterf~om the slough. The City Manager ~aid water from <br />-the slough Is not suitable for the greens, but he felt <br />sure something could be worked out later with the Golf <br />Assoc i at i on on water consumpt ion. I twas br6ught out <br />that the Golf Association acts as the City's "Agent" <br />and accepts responsibi lity for maintenance of the course. <br />Th~ question being cal led for, the fol lowing vote Was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the m6tion carried, <br /> <br />Dr. Robert W. Walts, Ch~irman of the U~ban Rehewal Agency <br />Board, appea~ed before the Counci I to present the General <br />Neighborhood Renewal Plan. A copy of his presenta-tion is <br />attached arid made a part of the Minutes. Alderman Damon <br />moved adoption of an Ordinance approv1ng the Plan, caption <br />of which is as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS APPROVING GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL <br />PLAN FOR JUAN VERAMEND I PROJECTTEX R-90; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />Aldermari Korff seconded the mofion~ <br /> <br />Kenneth Sutton, recognized by the Mayor, introduced <br />Forrest Manjang as spokesman fora delegation of <br />San Marcos residents. Mr, Manjang presented a petition <br />carrying 82 signatures, attached here as a part of the <br />Minutes. The Mayor read the petjtion aloud, as fol lows: <br /> <br />"We, the property owners and tax payers of Comal, <br />Valley, John, Luck, Centre, Herndon, Jackman, <br />Shady Lane and Endicott Streets, have no de~ire <br />to sel I 6ur property, in reference to the possible <br />building project that was mentjoned in the San <br />Marcos Record on March 16, 1967." <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Record article ~as brought from Ci-ty fi les for <br />reference. Alderman Korff said: "You are not referring <br />to,,\ the River Projec-t #1, but to Project #2." Dr. Walts <br />said: "The plans are conceptual, not definitive", <br />Jim T. Brown, executive director of Urban Renewal, spoke <br />to the matter: "This situation resulted from a Record <br />interview with Warren Freudiger and me. I explained there <br />would be some land avai lable for housing in the GNRP area. <br />I have asked for a neighborhood meeting to clear up the <br />misunders-tanding." Dr, Pool moved that the Ordinance be <br />passed as an emergency measure. A I derman Damon seconded <br />the motion, which passed by common consent.
