The City Manager asked the Counci I for .guidelines. in planning a paving program. Types and C?sts,of paving were discussed, and an o~ner-participation method of financing the street improvements considered. In answer to Dr. Craddock's question, Mr. Wolff said the owner's cost of paving and gutter for a 100 ft. lot would be approximately $385. The Counc; I, by common consent, authorized the City Manager to prepare a cost estimate on paving for consid- eration at the next meeting. The Resolution, attachedas a part of,the Minutes, was read in full and discussed. Mr. Damon moved approval of the Resolution~ Mr. Whittenberg seconded the motion and on roll cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded: I AYE: NAY: Craddock, Dilmon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. The Mayor announced that the Band and Chorus of SWTSC were giving a benefit concert for the Library on May 1st. He expressed appreciation for this volu~tary interest in the San Marcos library. I' The City Manager brought before the Counc; I a request from the library Board for more cl~rical help. It was the Board's hope that the present part-time employee could be hired full time when she is avai lable in June. The matter was thoroughly discussed. Dr. Craddock moved that the ,Council express its_sin~ere desire to hire the young lad~, and make every effort to find funds for that purpose. Mr. Damon seconded the motion and on roll cal I the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, Whittenberg None I The Mayor declared the motion carried. Dr.' Poo I reported On the survey of fees charged for use of parkballfields in towns of compa~able size. He said: "It is fairly obvious that the great majority of towns polled make no charge for use of bal Ifields in the afternoon: Frank Taylor, COe Chairman of the Parks & Recreation Board, reported on the schedule of fees recommend~d by the Board. Dr. Pool asked if the schedule was ever brought before the Counc; I for approval. Mr. Taylor said the fees were only recommended; the Board has no authority to set the fees.
