Types and C?sts,of paving were discussed, and <br />an o~ner-participation method of financing the street improvements <br />considered. In answer to Dr. Craddock's question, Mr. Wolff said <br />the owner's cost of paving and gutter for a 100 ft. lot would <br />be approximately $385. The Counc; I, by common consent, authorized <br />the City Manager to prepare a cost estimate on paving for consid- <br />eration at the next meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor read a Reso I ut i on author izi ng the Mayor and City <br />Secretary to execute sa fe of Texas Ut II it i es stock given the <br />San Marcos ~ibrary by Mrs. Dudley Johnson. The Resolution, <br />attachedas a part of,the Minutes, was read in full and discussed. <br />Mr. Damon moved approval of the Resolution~ Mr. Whittenberg <br />seconded the motion and on roll cal I, the fol lowing vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Dilmon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor announced that the Band and Chorus of SWTSC were <br />giving a benefit concert for the Library on May 1st. He expressed <br />appreciation for this volu~tary interest in the San Marcos library. <br /> <br />I' <br /> <br />The City Manager brought before the Counc; I a request from the <br />library Board for more cl~rical help. It was the Board's hope that <br />the present part-time employee could be hired full time when she <br />is avai lable in June. The matter was thoroughly discussed. <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the ,Council express its_sin~ere desire to <br />hire the young lad~, and make every effort to find funds for that <br />purpose. He said: "It is <br />fairly obvious that the great majority of towns polled make no <br />charge for use of bal Ifields in the afternoon: Frank Taylor, <br />COe Chairman of the Parks & Recreation Board, reported on the <br />schedule of fees recommend~d by the Board. Dr. Pool asked if <br />the schedule was ever brought before the Counc; I for approval. <br />Mr. Taylor said the fees were only recommended; the Board has <br />no authority to set the fees.
