The <br />letter is attached. Wi II i am li tt Ie, Pres i dent of the <br />Jaycee Softba II League , spoke to the Counc i I on the manner <br />in which the League is financed. The City Manager quoted <br />the cost of electricity for the park ballfields. A full I <br />di scuss ion of the fee system was he I d. Dr. Poo I moved <br />that the Softbal I League bear the expense of the electric- <br />ity used during their games, at $1.75 per hour. Mr. Whitt- <br />enberg seconded the motion and on roll call, the following <br />vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, <br />Whittenberg <br />NAY: None ' <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The Mayor commented that most of their problems seemed to <br />stem from lack of money. He reminded the Counci I that the <br />City Sales Tax. Bill had been passed, and added: " I can see <br />no :other way (of providingsufficient revenue) than by the <br />C'ity Sales Tax." Mr. Serur said he thought all the area <br />cities should get together and agree on holding a referen- <br />dum on the same day. <br /> <br />The City Manager opened discussion on disposal of property <br />acquired by the City through tax sales. After outlining I <br />several ways of handling the sales, he asked that the Council <br />direct him in the matter. George Reed, Tax Assessor- Collect- <br />or, explained that some of the original owners of the~roperty <br />lost the i I' homes through sheer ignorance. He made the suggest- <br />ion that, if possible, the property be sold to the owners <br />who had defaulted on their taxes. He said the City only holds <br />the property as trustee. He stated that 37 more pieces of <br />property would be offered at a tax sale the following week. <br />Mr. Whittemberg said the City should negotiate to get: the <br />property back on the tax rolls. The City Manager suggested <br />that the City should try first to sell the property back to <br />the prev i ous owner, g i v i ng a sher i ff1;.deed. Dr. Craddock <br />moved that the City Manager and Mr. Reed be authorized to <br />investigate the feasibi lity of selling property acquired <br />by t~x sale to the original owner,furnishing a sheriff's <br />deed. Mr. Flores seconded the motion and on 1'01 I call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur, <br />Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager introduced for discussion the Mill Street <br />property bought several years ago for relocation. He ex- <br />plained that six lots were bought from the Ramsay Estate, <br />only three being used to relocate the Espinoza Fami Iy, whose <br />property was required for right-of,way for RM 12. Another <br />member of the Espinoza Fami Iy wants to buy an adjacent lot, <br />and another person wishes to buy the remaining two. Mr. Wolff <br />suggested a price of $1,000 a lot. Dr. Pool moved that the <br />Mayor be authorized to sel I the Mi II Street property. Mr. <br />Damon seconded the motion and on roll cal I, the fol lowing <br />
