Of all of the accidents recorded which you furnished us, 45.4% were at two intersections and 54.6% were not at intersections. None of the accidents at the intersections are susceptable to correction by traffic lights because there is traffic lights in place at these intersections.. We would recommend that the traffic lights on Loop 82 and Hutchinson, Hopkins, San Antonio, and Carnal Streets be updated to conform with present standards for signalization and that only parallel parking be permitted on Loop 82, R.M. 12 and L.B.J, Drive. In observing the parking conditions along these streets, it is noted that there is seldom sufficient room for even one lane of moving traffic in each direction and frequently there is not sufficient room for even one lane of moving traffic, We also observed, particularly On R,M. 12 from the east, that there are frequent violation of the posted speed. We feel that these violations are particularly responsible for your COncern for traffic on Edward Gary Street crossing R.M. 12. You will recall that we discussed these matters with you, Mayor Serur and Councilman Korth last week. Please advise us if you are now ready for us to submit our recommendations to our Main Office giving the City of San Marcos authority to erect standard traffic signals at the four intersections which meet the warrants, If this is your desire, we feel that approval will be readily given and we will forward you the necessary information for an interconnected coordinated system for these four intersections.
