<br />regu I ar meet i ng, november 13, 1967 <br /> <br />page four <br /> <br />The Mayor reminded the Counci I that returns .from the <br />Sales Tax Election, to be held the next day, would <br />have to be canvassed on Nov. 15. It I,as agreed that <br />the regular meeting would adjourn at the conclusion <br />of business, to reconvene at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, <br />Nov. 15. <br /> <br />Counci Iman Flores introduced the subject of the City's <br />participation in the Surplus Commodities Program. The <br />City Manager stated that Hays County Commissioners Court <br />had agreed to donate $80~ toward expenses of the program <br />which is being sponsored locally by the American G.I. <br />Forum. Funds would be used for transportation, regjs- <br />tration and the 32~ fee to register those who qualify <br />for participation in the program. Eliazar Salinas ~as <br />recognized by the Mayor as a representative of the G.I. <br />Forum. Mr. Salinas said it was hoped the City would <br />also give $800. One expense that had already been in- <br />curred, he said, was purchase of a used ~alk-in freezer <br />needed for storage, at a cost of $300. Dr. Craddock <br />moved that the City appropriate $800 for the Surplus <br />Commodities Program. Mr. Damon seconded the motion and <br />on rol I call, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Damon, Flores, Pool, Serur <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared. the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown stated that since the City is assisting with the <br />SDrplus Commodities Program,and since the program would <br />assist 50% of the people in the Project, the Urban Renewal <br />office would be able to assist with secretarial work, and <br />other personnel. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock asked whether the City has an ordinance deal- <br />ing with "blind corners".
