regu I ar meet i ng, november 13, 1967 page four The Mayor reminded the Counci I that returns .from the Sales Tax Election, to be held the next day, would have to be canvassed on Nov. 15. It I,as agreed that the regular meeting would adjourn at the conclusion of business, to reconvene at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15. Counci Iman Flores introduced the subject of the City's participation in the Surplus Commodities Program. The City Manager stated that Hays County Commissioners Court had agreed to donate $80~ toward expenses of the program which is being sponsored locally by the American G.I. Forum. Funds would be used for transportation, regjs- tration and the 32~ fee to register those who qualify for participation in the program. Eliazar Salinas ~as recognized by the Mayor as a representative of the G.I. Forum. Mr. Salinas said it was hoped the City would also give $800. One expense that had already been in- curred, he said, was purchase of a used ~alk-in freezer needed for storage, at a cost of $300. Dr. Craddock moved that the City appropriate $800 for the Surplus Commodities Program. Mr. Damon seconded the motion and on rol I call, the fol lowing vote was recorded: I AYE: NAY: Craddock, Damon, Flores, Pool, Serur None The Mayor declared. the motion carried. Mr. Brown stated that since the City is assisting with the SDrplus Commodities Program,and since the program would assist 50% of the people in the Project, the Urban Renewal office would be able to assist with secretarial work, and other personnel. I Dr. Craddock asked whether the City has an ordinance deal- ing with "blind corners". The City Manager said "Yes", and offered to have City person~el check property where such traffic hazards exist.
